I am a bit confused about all these fan connectors on the motherboard

I want to get a be quite silent wings 3 but the connectors for them are 4 pin. Only sys_fan 1 is 4 pin and sys_fan 2, and pwr_fan is 3 pin. Does it matter that 2 fans are not connected into a 4 pin fan header?

No it doesn't matter; 4pin can plug into a 3pin; and vice-versa

How old is your Motherboard? Pretty much every motherboard since around Intel P67 usually had 4pin PWM headers for every single available fan header on the board. Except maybe various FM2/AM3 boards from back then.

Last I checked but 4 pin connectors like that would just be for pwm fans really if you use fan controllers and such.

Don't worry about it unless you want to control all the fan speeds for whatever reason.

That doesn't make any sense.
PWM is just auto controlled based on loads & temps.
3pin is controlled by voltage.

Both fan types can be manually controlled via software or via a hardware fan controller.

just realised be quite silent wings 2 has a 3pin version, and thats the version on pccasegear (the website i use) i think im all good

The 4th pin is for PWM control that is optional. And you can see plenty 4-pin headers and plugs where it is not even connected. So don't sweat about it, just use what you have, all the combination work fine for practice.

As others have said using a 3pin onto a 4pin will work fine and so will using a 4pin onto a 3pin header. If you really don't like that idea for some reason you could just be a 3 pin to 4pin cable or vice versus.

No need to waste more $ on any needless adapters; there is nothing to adapt here.
