Good OC for 8600k
What would be a decent OC for my i5 8600k without touching the voltage?

And, if the new clock is still under the boost clock, will it still boost?

That differs per chip.

If you are not willing to touch the voltage I say don't bother, the stock clocks are pretty decent already.

It's all depending on siliconb lottery of your CPU, the motherboard and the Cooler.
There is no general answer. When overclocking you should always touch the voltage to lower the overall power consumption by using a fixed voltage and stability. That is also just fine. Just stay below 1.4V

Depends what cooler you are using, what motherboard you have, and what temp your CPU get to while putting put under load. Use Prime95 (with Small FFTs in the app) to see what 'worst case' your temps would be. Or if you want to use a less aggresive app to benchmark your temps under load try CinebenchR15 (and run the CPU benchmark and look at temps while it is running). Those benchmark apps will also help you see if your OC is stable enough to use. There are other apps but the two apps I use to see temps are Open Hardware Monitor or AI Suite 3.

Give it a try and good luck, I just told you a few basics. You still need to know what temps are considered safe, and advanced settings to change in the BIOS aside from just voltage and core clock speed.

For stability and heat you have to use 1344 FTT and Prime Version 26.6.

If you overclock correctly, you will not boost anymore. Boosting is only 1 core while the other cores will be "deactivated" in c-states. You actively disable c-states in an overclock while you in general want all cores to run faster.

And yes the CPU will still boost even if you overlock the CPU, give it a try and good luck.

My cooler is the Arctic Liquid Freezer 240, and the mobo is MSI Z370 Gaming Plus
