1080 ASUS Strix or EVGA FTW 2?
Same price, both look sexy, which one is better in your opinion? I just want to know what you think.

I'd go with an EVGA that way if the RTX 2070 is faster then a 1080 you can just trade up to it as long as its in the 3 month window.

Just so you're aware, all GTX 1080 air cooled cards all overclock the exact same. Some with bigger coolers will run a little cooler than others, but they all reach the same max overclock. The only time different cards matter is when you're getting in to full custom water cooled loops and manual overclocking and bios flashing and stuff. For just normal air cooled cards, it doesn't really matter other than operating temps. The strix may run a few degrees cooler.
the difference between the 1080s is very minor
like that guy said ^^, bigger cooler = cooler gpu

i would get the strix because its pretty
I've been wanting a ftw2 for awhile.........
dual bios , evga support and trade up (if new) are
all pluses

And this

EVGA is very good when it comes to a warranty
i paid an extra $30 to give my card a 10 year warranty
EVGA over every other GPU Brand out there, period.

I'm sure there would be a lot of people out there that bought a GTX 1080 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 that would disagree with you (It had an aftermarket HS design that performed worse than a stock Founders Blower and EVGA's solution was to release a BIOS update after 2 months of being made aware of the issue that simply ramped up the fan curve making the card run at 41 dbA when idle).

I'd rather have a Zotac which comes with a 5 year global warranty as standard.
Why does everyone continue to judge EVGA based around one mistake?
Every brand makes mistakes. Most of them are full of all kinds of short-cuts we don't talk about.
EVGA still continues to have one of the better track records out there.

They didn't put thermal pads because EVGA thought they aren't necessary, and they were wrong... I have 2017 version of 1070 EVGA SC and this one has thermal pads but still runs hotter than my previous 1070 Gaming X and is 5% slower than my MSI card because it has only single 8pin power connector
Well for one the "SC" is the cheapest of the cheap, never buy those, they are crap.
If you want good then get the higher tiered ones.

Buy they FTW2 w/ ICX or perhaps a Hybrid, stay away from the rest if you want the higher tier models; like double plating across the entire card (one reason to avoid the SC and some SSC also; depends on the family, but all SC are poor; the price speaks for that).

The ICX is a must with its 9-sensor array.
Then there is power-phase, this differs per model.
EVGA for the step up* program

I know, right now I have 1070 SC. Luckily this one has thermal pads applied but still run hot and fans are insanely loud above 50% (at 50% they're very quiet lol). I bought it from miner some time ago after LEDs in my previous MSI 1070 died. This card is pretty strange... I can't overclock it higher than 1950Mhz because only single 8pin power connecter makes overclocking this card impossible and clock is all over the place once it hits 73 degrees (clock is literally jumping between 1880-1950mhz every second). It has micron memory which I overclocked to +700 without any artifacts when my previous 1070 was causing purple screen after adding +400 to memory. And this card with its 1900Mhz is only about 3% slower than my previous overclocked to 2088Mhz Gaming X. Logic
