okay thanks, ill buy a 7600 then

You could also try finding the i7 7700 and get better multi-threaded performance as well.
It will be more expensive but it will last you longer. Just be sure not to pay more than 250$ for one. The lower, the better of course.

Low settings, and low resolution, in a game like that and with gpu as powerful as 1060, you're more cpu bound.
If your cpu isn't strong enough, you can't get more performance out of that card.
It won't run at full use.

What is your cpu?
i5 7th gen, its 7400 iirc. not on pc rn, can send my full specs 22 hrs from now if necessary. my friend told me it does not bottleneck

ah ♥♥♥♥, my techician told me to buy an i5 rather than an i7. he told me that i7 was unnecessary if i only plan to game (which i do). am i ♥♥♥♥♥♥? ive build this rig for since no more than 2 months. does that mean i wasted money for i5

oh and if i may add, my another friend told me to buy more ram. i currently have 8gb and told me to buy another, same brand.
so ill get 16 gb all in all

these 2 friends of mine are pretty familiar with pcs and im not so idk anymore. thats why i ask here

That's about right for 7400. It really depends of map and area.
7400 is good and strong for gaming, but even it has it's limitations due to having fairly slow clockspeed and not being overclockable.

It does not bottleneck when the game is demanding enough.

If you really need all possible framerates out of CS GO, you will need at least i5 7600K and overclock it as far as it goes. (and that will require a Z270 motherboard)

ye, so is it my ram? cuz a gpu a lot cheaper than mine rn (970) runs csgo at 300 fps. and if ur familiar with gta san andreas multiplayer, im also supposed to get 300 fps there at least but only get 140.

what im saying is it's not just csgo. it runs pretty fine on witcher 3 tho, just how it's supposed to be..

Also, you said you built that pc 2 months ago...was the parts as used or new?
If it was new, it was a bad purchase.

Because a newer generation i3 8100 is also a 4-core cpu and costs half the price of i5 7400.

it was a new purchase, but nevermind that. what's done is done. thanks for the info tho, gonna be helpful in the future.

but what about the present? my pc not working how it's supposed to be

wait wtf, does that mean i3 is the better one? why's i5 more expensive then? shouldve done more research b4 assembling my rig..

COmparing to what others get, is pretty bad to base your performance off of.
Unless the system is completely the same on basic specs (i5 7400 + 1060 6gb) and in settings.

If one has 1060 and overclocked i5 7600K, the results will be completely different.

It's because the i3 8100 runs at 3.6Ghz while i5 7400 is only about 3.0Ghz on all 4 cores.
They both are otherwise the same.
Intel 8th gen is basically the Kaby Lake Refresh but just has more cores on each line up)

i3 went from 2 cores and 4 threads to 4 cores and 4 threads
i5 went from 4 cores and 4 threads to 6 cores and 6 threads
i7 went from 4 cores and 8 threads to 6 cores and 12 threads

They also have increased clockspeeds all around.

i5 7400 is more expensive because it's an i5. It's on higher pricing point than i3.
Intel never drops their prices for older generations. So it will stay more expensive.

does that mean basically 8th gens are the real deal? cuz these kaby lake refresh processors are a lot better in terms of price and performance

damn.. wasted cash for nothing.. this a lesson for me

so its my cpu? i feel bad cuz i feel that i wasted a lot of cash on 1060 if my cpu is kinda bad for it. was purchasing 1050 (i think i was about to buy the ti ver) and i7 pair a better choice?

what about my friends insight on ram?

im not really a pc geek, so can u be a little bit more straightforward? i mean i appreciate and im really enlightened with the new infos but i shall prioritize this dilemma of mine first thx. maybe a tldr one if possible

A modern 4 core like i5 7400 and GTX 1060 is a good combination.
But you have to understand the limits that some older games bring.

1060 is just so powerful that in a game like CS GO, you need substantially more single core performance (newer and/or higher clockspeed cpu)

GOing for 16gb RAM will be a good step-up. It won't add any performance, but you at least won't be running out of RAM at any point.

so is it the game's fault? this another friend of mine (the real good one) also told me that. old game engines are just kinda bad. HOWEVER that doesnt explain how others with similar specs as mine gets very different results.

about the ram:
if that so, then its not really necessary.

so does that mean the cpu is the problem? can u suggest 2 cpus that i can buy? a budget friendly one and the beast. im thinking of buying a new one..

Shouldn't 180fps be enough!?

Your only choice, without having to change motherboard, is i5 7600. (not 7600K)
And you have to buy it as used or else you will just be using even more money unecessarily.

8th gen requires a 300 series motherboard. H310, B360 or Z370.
They won't work on H110, B150, H170, Z170, B250,H270 and Z270 boards.
Because they use a socket called LGA1151 V2, where as 6th and 7th gen Intel use LGA1151 V1.

Changing to anything other than other 7th gen cpu, will require a motherboard change.
And 7600K/7700K cpus require Z170/Z270 so you could overclock them (running them stock isn't much different from regular 7600 and 7700)
