Not being able to hear my own voice using USB headset?
Hi guys,

So I am a proud new owner of the HyperX Cloud II. Loving it so far, but it cancels out about every other sound you could imagine, including my own voice. I don't like this when using voip, so I looked for a way to hear my own voice through the headset, and found one. You can go to the audio device properties, levels tab and use the microphone slider to reach this effect. The problem is, I can only do this as long as I connect it to my PC using the 3.5mm jack. As soon as I connect it to the USB soundcard thing it comes with, said slider doesn't appear on the tab anymore.

I know there's also the listen function, but it adds a slight delay so I'm trying other options, first method worked perfectly and is exactly what I'm looking for. I am at loss, anyone has any experience with this problem?

Glad to hear!

You are never supposed to. But you can easily do that by going to Windows Playback/Recording; click on Recording > Mic > properties > Listen to Device; avoid this with any external speakers though so you don't get an endless echo-loop. Do not leave this on during recording sessions; such as OBS for example; as it most likely will capture both samples and result in double audio in the playback or live-stream.

Best bet with testing a Mic is loading by a simple recording app; even if just Sound Recorder; and then speaking at what you consider normal volume, then stop, then play it back for you to hear.

Thanks for your reply, but like I said in op I already found that option. It adds a slight delay which distracts me when saying anything longer than a few words.

The mic slider option worked perfectly, just trying to figure out why I can't use it when connected through USB.

From what I read it seems to be a given with USB devices, somehow you need an analog connection for it to work. Oh well, thanks for reading!

Oh one more thing, will I miss out on anything quality wise if I just use the 3.5mm connector onboard, and not the USB soundcard?
