CPU_LED light?

I mailed my computer to myself when I moved, when I received it at my new place it started up and the CPU_LED light was on. Nothing on my display comes up, it acknowledges the DVI plugged in but goes straight to sleep.

I feel like I’ve tried everything, at least to my limited knowledge. Stripped it all the way down to the bare CPU and back just looking for something wrong several times, reset the CMOS battery to see if I could at least get BIOS up. Left my RAM and GPU out of the system just about the entire time since they are not the issue, does the same thing without them.

I’ve got an i7 7700k, ASUS Z270, Thermaltake 750w PSU. if anyone’s who’s seen something similar who might be able to help me out here I’d appreciate it.

What is the cpu led for?

The computer won't POST without at least one stick of RAM. Does your motherboard have an LCD display? What's the error code?

I’ll check it again once I’m home with a stick of RAM in but the LED is only red for the CPU. memory is green and so is XMP

Without sounding condesending, have you ensured the 8-pin CPU power plug is connected properly?

Red light still goes on even with 1x 8gb ddr4 installed. Green light on memory and EZ XMP. Still no display on my monitor. Only things installed to the mobo are the CPU heat sink and both power cables.

I've done that. Twice. :)

Test it with the RAM and see how it goes. There's a very small chance the CPU Socket has somehow been damaged, at which point you'd need a new Motherboard.

It has to be one of the two. First startup since its mailing the core temp started off 85-90 Celsius while in BIOS so I turned it off quickly and opened everything up before it was damaged. Checked to make sure my CPU was good and seemed fine (at least outside) but once I got it all back together it didn’t even start up. I’m leaning toward the processor having been damaged inside, thoughts?

Processors don't break. They're sealed into an extremely durable IHS cover, they can survive a lot of impact and trauma. Even being stepped on. But Motherboards and CPU Sockets are quite delicate, the Socket Pins are very easy to bend or break if too much force is applied. If you have a large CPU cooler, and the package was treated roughly, it's very possible that a Socket Pin has broken or bent.

Well, I've never heard of a CPU itself being damaged in transit. They're not a component that's easy to break, since they're effectively armour-plated. Their heatspreader doubles as very good impact protection.

Ima keep digging around in there to see if I can find a specific cause before I pull the trigger and buy something I don’t need, there aren’t professionals who can help me where I’m at now so it’s all on me for now.

I had this many times when moving my pc ... its leads that come loose , check your leads to ssd and everything else
