I dunno, some of the Filcos came pretty close IMO.
A company in China is making faithful replicas now, from the original blueprints and with as many original dies and castings as possible. The PCB is modern and they're USB compatible, but in all other respects they're a newly made IBM Model M. You might want to track one down :)
For typing yes they were excellent keyboards but for modern competitive gaming not so much.
Boards like the K552[www.amazon.com] use Outemu/Goate branded MX clone "blue" type of clicky switch that comes pretty close to the action of the buckling-spring switches the old IBMs had.
