Gaming : 720p vs 1080p vs 1440p vs 4k vs 8k
Is there a lot of difference between all these resolutions , when gaming ?
Currently i have a 1600x900 monitor and i'm playing Steam games with an NVIDIA GTS 450 ... what you suggest me to do to upgrade ? 8k is unattainable , while for 4k it seems that you really need a powerful GPU to run games ...

The image gets a little sharper and you have a wider field of vision in some case.. but that's about it.

For 4k you need at least 2000 euros for GPUs ... 2k is sweet spot ,one GTX 1080s can run that at ultra settings

How much money you have to spend will tell you what resolution you should be at.

So.. what's your budget?

Definitely no more than 1000 euros for everything , and that's still a lot
8k monitor costs 3000 euros , lol
Maybe the best thing to do is still wait and see what happens in the future ...

1080p is what most people go for as it's easiest to obtain.
Even the weakest GTX gpu currently, the GTX 1050, can run games at 1080p.

Most people however buy the 1050Ti or even 1060.

The cheapest, full-sized 1050Ti in Italy right now:

Switched from a 1080p to a 1440p monitor earlier this year.
Playing on a GTX 1080 so most games have no problem to keep 60 FPS at that resolution.
But to be brutally honest, i dont see much of a difference between 1080 and 1440.
Yes, its a bit sharper and your field of view may be a bit bigger but overall i kind of expected more.
Everyone was like "1440p is so much better looking!" and i just dont see it.

Ah well.

I think the biggest difference is :

1080p -----> 4k -------> 8k

Not 100% sure though

4x SLI GTX 1080 Ti can run every game on 8K, Ultra and its expensive as hell you just need to sell your car to get 4x SLI GTX 1080 Ti

If someone cant run games on 4K just use supersampling and upscaling on 1080p

Another good question is, what are your rigs full specs?

It's not good, but not that bad either.
It's about same as Pentium Gold G5400:

GTS 450 is pure trash though. It eats a way too much power for a relatively low performance, much worse as the GTX 750. Whole Fermi line - while it brought some great tech improverments - suffered from heat and being a powerhog.
Even a simple current GTX 1050 will be lightyears ahead.

SLI is dead. Barely any game nowadays even supports it.
And the new RTX 2000er series of NIVIDEA GPU wont even have a SLI bridge connector any more.
