Do you have a dedicated SSD for games?
I’d be very interested to know if you have a dedicated SSD drive for games (including all Steam games, obviously) on top of a (smaller) SSD for the OS and a big HDD for data storage. If so, what’s the sweet-spot between affordability and size for a dedicated drive for games?

i recently was on a project pc, it was stock 4gb ram 1600mghz, dual core, 1tbhdd and grabbed it for 580$ on new egg from cyber tron paratroopers

what i did to save money on an SDD which you can find great deals for them now for around 50$, i went to a pawn shop and bought old ps3 systems for 40$ each, that being said, ps3 use sdd 2.5 and i came across a 60gb sdd from one of them. i installed that sdd to my pc as primary for windows and the 1tb hdd for games and capacity. the sdd, depending the quality and speed, will improve loading times and thats really about it. an sdd isnt made to help 3d related software, though it can in some areas, thats what a gpu is for. if you want to save cash, grab an old ps3 and still its sdd and put it in your tower, thats i been doing and its a win win. if you want a big performance on gaming as far a graphics, then a gpu, sdd only affects load times and maybe upload or rendering if that. reason why i went with an old ps3 sdd, is because you never hear of a ps3 san disk failing ever! so they are good for withstanding a bunch of heat and running all day no problem. id just stick with sdd as my main for windows, if you have the cash for a 1tb sdd for gaming then yes thats a little better than hdd :)

PS3 using an SSD? Its not vary common people swap an SSD in a PS3, its not vary wise to go buy a used PS3 and hope it has a SSD. From factoy, not even a single model will have an SSD, They all come with a slow 5400rpm 2.5 HDD and thats it not faster, no slower. Only way they can have an SSD is if some one buys one and installes the Playstaion Firmware on it which is retevily easy.

No PS3 on the planet has even came from Sony with an SSD in it lol.

Not to mention consoles are made for slow spinnie drives, so plugging in a ssd doesnt make much of a differance since they're not being hooked to sata3 6gbps or equivalent.

Scavenging consoles is the last thing I would do for a deal on a SSD. Just wait til Black Friday sales.
Personally I just have a pair of 2TB Samsung Pro NVME SSD's here. One for OS/games and the other for even more games. My big file server / NAS in the other room with 96TB local storage is where most of my "not used often" files go, and use 10 GbE (10 Gigabit) network in the house to transfer between computers. Everything works really smooth and fast. I average about 400~600 MB/s between NAS and gaming machine.

he aint got to do what i did. i said for 50$ he cant find a great sdd i hes expirienced then i mentioned what i did, and this is a technique that works for others. theres way to increase speed tranfser times and also load times on a pc with just a regular old hdd, at the end of the day i only care about my own pc so if i buy chance had an sdd sitting around i wasnt using, why not toss it in my pc? you can grabb 50$ sdd off new egg no problem and dont need to do what i did at all! my pc expirience was increased so good for me
