Will an upgrade from Phenom II 965 BE to FX 8350 be worthy?
I am currently thinking to upgrade to FX 8350 from Phenom II 965. I just wanted to ask by about how much of an improve in fps will I have in games?
I am not planning to overclock anything as I am worried not to do any damage.
My cooler is H55 liquid Corsair; motherboard Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0; Graphics GTX 1050 TI 4GB. RAM 8 GB DDR3.

The thing is I noticed that some games no longer support Phenom for example: Far Cry V.
Also by looking at the spec numbers it seems like it is a huge step forward compared to what i have.
//So I was wondering is it a worthy upgrade? By about how much of an FPS improve will there be? If anyone owns GTX 1050TI and FX 8350 what's your average fps in games at mid-high 1080p settings?

Also a few other questions:
Will my liquid cooler H55 Corsair be good enough for FX 8350? I'm thinking to buy it second hand for less than 50$ and it won't include its own native cooler.
Also will my motherboard be good with FX processor? I do know that the socket AM3+ is supported but I am not sure if 8350 will be fine for this particular motherboard.

Also some extra information:
I play:
Starcraft 2 (Extremely extra very low settings for good performance) - when on the map I own about 500 zerglings I get around 20-30 fps also +3 other AI. About how much would I expect to have with FX with the very same settings and ammount of same units?
In overwatch on mid settings i get around 45-60 fps. - how much will it be with FX?
In path of exile on everything high I had around 50fps.
In Skyrim (everything maxed 1080p) around 60fps
Star Wars Battlefront II - Around 60-70 fps on 20vs20 player map.

Thanks to everyone for their help in advance.

2020 update:
I was just going to say that I managed to get myself a second hand FX processor for 25 euro and in my opinion it was absolutely worth it. Everything can be played at a very acceptable level.

No. Save the money, get a new PC instead.

No, if you want to stay with AMD build a Ryzen system.

Agree even the 2200g is 35% faster[cpu.userbenchmark.com]

Also that board may struggle a bit trying to handle the extra power of the cpu, not a lot of VRMs and the lack of heat sinks may cause problems if it can’t handle it proper

the board isnt horrible for fx 125w cpus
its a 9xx chipset which is correct
but 4+1 is not enough for overclocking 125w cpus
h55 is a poor cooler, 212evo is better esp for cooling mobo vrms

fx has higher clock, but lower ipc than pii
and fx 'cores' are paired sharing l2 cache and a single fpu

moving to a new pentium g or i3 will be an upgrade from fx or pii cpus
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-AMD-FX-8350/3892vs1489

or ryzen, but there are no cheap ryzens
the i3 8100 bets the ryzen 3s
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-3-2200G-vs-Intel-Core-i3-8100/m441832vs3942

build prices are simlar
i3 8100 + board and ram = $270

2200g + board and ram = $260

I have both and I recently pulled the x4 965 out for the 2nd FX8350 I have, the diference4 in heavy games is huge ie Mafia 3 / GR:W / JC3, on paper it's supposed to be %25 better but in new games it seems the extra cores are helping more.

I fired up GR:W with the x4 965BE Rx 580 ohhhh it was a bit painful 1080p some high and a lot of off settings to get 32-50ish fps, swap in the FX8350 bam very high presets 1080p no problem.

Seriously the FX8350 ^ is dirt cheap and not that bad compared to a low end ryzen quad.

For me swapping platforms right now I wouldn't bother with anything lower than a Ryzen 2600x / 2700x

I know this is an old thread, but surely GRW doesn't support Phenoms.
I have a 965 and Far Cry 5 and GRW will not run at all.

Ya GR:W sure does play on x4 965.

FC 5 needs SSE4.x and PII doesn't have it so no FC 5 for PII, some players are claiming that FC ND works on PII the way it was explained elsewhere is that FC 5 has the video game side missions which needs SSE4.x and FC ND does not so the PII works.

x4 965 I kid you not. ^

Yes, these CPUs sell for $40 bucks or less used. Don't build a new system if you only plan to get anything less then a 1050 or 1050 ti or, even a used GPU.

I made that mistake. Instead of me getting a i3-8100 and rx 570, decent everything. I just went for a i5-8400 and a fancy case/mobo/PSU and waited a year to get this broken r9 strix 390 for $70 CDN.
