1080 Ti slowly heating from startup (33C) to 50C while idle
Just as a disclaimer, for the past few days GeForce Experience wasn't opening. Suddenly, yesterday, after some troubleshooting with nVidia customer support, Experience opened again.

Now the idle temps rise to 50C, and when I disable Afterburner, it goes up higher still.

Even browsing, just yesterday (before I got GeForce Experience to open), my graphics card would only get to 37C.

Can someone help me out.

I'm afraid that if I uninstall GeForce Experience again, it won't reinstall, or I'll just have the same issue.

Reapplying thermal paste didn't help or hurt me.

If you have the power setting set to Performance in the NVIDIA CP thats probably why.
Set it to Optimal and that should fix it

And getting rid of GFE would be a good idea as well, unless you need it for shadowplay.

Fan RPM?
Either something is using the GPU, or your fans are off on idle - the latter isn't a problem of course with those temps.

You guys are awesome, thank you for the quick replies.

The current GPU fan RPM is ~2970.

I will set the power setting in NVIDIA CP to Optimal, and uninstall GeForce if that doesn't work.

*edit: heading to work shortly, so will update later

Setting the power setting in NVIDIA CP to Optimal seems to have done it! I appreciate the help!!!

Yw :)

Its doing that because when set to Performance doing even minor tasks like browsing or watching vids the GPU will use more power than what is actually needed to view those things, so your clocks raise and because the GPU is working harder the temps will be higher while viewing such content.

Everything's running fine now, but thank you. That is the way my fans are, front intake and top/rear exhaust. So happy it's all running as expected. Played Witcher 3 for a solid hour, and went back to desktop and things are cooling to normal temps again.
