Have you tried the Fornite forums? They would know if the patch did anything.
https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/technical-support/hardware-support/449302-very-low-fps-on-gtx-1080
https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/bug-reports/battle-royale-aa/459989-the-fps-drop-after-v4-5-patch
I think its an issue with some cards because my old 1060 pretty much got the same, maybe a tiny bit worse but idk
Will probably do nothing, but just incase theres game files corrupt or missing, try verifying the game through epic launcher
Oh ok, is it just fortnite that its happening? There were new nvidia drivers released a few days ago which you could install if you havent already done so to see if that helps.
Anyway i can test it?

Seems like there's a memory leak in this update, after some 45 mins of play the client was consuming 7GB of RAM and growing.
^ Maybe this as i only got 8gb and fortnite takes literally 6.5gbs and fps seems to drop like 30mins into the game
I haven't gotten any fps drops in any other games though which is odd. At the same time I've looked at streamers and even though they're using high-end systems similarly specced as yours, they havent took a hit on fps.
That would make sense, damn what resolution do you play at for fortnite to use 6.5GB of VRAM? xd
By this might help: https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/bug-reports/battle-royale-aa/459989-the-fps-drop-after-v4-5-patch
https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/battle-royale/royale-with-cheese/687079-fortnite-fps-drops-after-the-new-update maybe this aswell
I'm also on 8GB of RAM and noticing the same affect as you so who knows, maybe the memory leak is the cause of the problem.
I had the exact same problem with PUBG when that was first released, the memory leak was so bad and I only had 8GB of it to begin with that I was getting choppish 30fps and crashes with memory error codes during gameplay. After the devs fixed it I went up to 80-90fps and no crashes.
You could test it still if you like or just wait for a few more patches from fortnite to see if they fix the problem on their end if there is one. If there is they'll want it fixed before season 6 is released.
From what I've been told to do with my card, just use benchmarks like unigine and see if theres any anomolys there like temperature increases causing thermal throttling.
Talking about thermal throttling, is your PC overheating?
http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/11053234 Dont think its my gpu
Average is 126% and i got 127% ram is very poor maybe faulty ram idk
