High Cpu usage, low GPU usage
when running games, usally com gets near 90-100% cpu while gpu just gets a few 3-5%
CPU is AMD A-8 5500 APU with radeon HD
GPU (is it supposed to be displayed as chip type?) is NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050 Ti
anyway to fix the high cpu usage on games?

Is your display properly connected to your GPU?
BongBong Oct 6, 2018 @ 10:21pm
How would one find that out?

By ensuring your connect all Displays to the Graphics Card, not the Motherboard, prior to powering on the PC.

And which games in question? As those APUs are all very terrible for modern day games that are CPU-demanding types.

As people have said, you probably have the monitor connected to the integrated gpu and not the 1050Ti.

But even then, the A8 5500 is a HORRIBLE cpu and hugely bottlenecks 1050TI.
It is simply not strong enough to run 1050TI at 100%.

It's time for a new CPU, OP. As Sapph pointed out, even if your system was working at full potential your CPU would be a huge performance problem. It can't handle a 1050Ti, even at it's best.
Your processor isn't fast enough to feed data to the video card fast enough for the video card to get any utilization at all. Switch to a faster processor and your video card will show more utilization %.

Actually I doubt it, all FM2 CPUs are just poop; worse then 6th Gen Pentium

%3-%5 usage sounds way off what are you playing on an old crt 640x320 res.

Athlon type run all the same ^^^, never meant for gaming but ppl use them anyway, however 3-5% gpu usage is way out in left field.

More recently ^ 11:05 but painful to watch cpu pegged at %100 but still gpu not at %3.

That's also on FM1 socket, that's even slower for all of those CPUs that socket offered, about as slow as a Celeron from LGA-775

Even on FM2+ with even its best CPU, won't come anywhere close to a
Phenom II or FX on the AM3+ socket

Everything on FM2+ socket at its best is around an Intel dual-core, if that.

FM2+ users are way worse off than AM3+ users cause at least on AM3+ if your board could handle an FX-8 just fine, that is a viable upgrade perhaps. But FM2+ has nothing that will make your PC run games better, slow is all FM2+ can be, and thats when at its best.

No one brought up FX or PII an Athlon is an athon no L3 cache and runs like crap for gaming.

Ps, again %3-%5 gpu usage is way out in left field, so he or she should be looking into proper plug placement, maybe?

Well they all do really. Whats your point.

Only good option is for the OP to upgrade, like at least a Ryzen 1200 + B350 + 8GB of RAM (or better above this)

But even a 1200 would be miles ahead of ANY Athlon, even all those Phenoms

My point is he should not be getting %3 gpu usage at 1080p he shouldn't, you guys sound like telemarketers sometimes with your repetitive scripts.

%3-%5 is abnormally low, maybe he's using a Duron to get that low of %.

Indeed. While 1050Ti just simply can't do 100% with the A8 5500, it shouldn't be as low as what OP is getting. 3-5% is basically idling utilization.

Wipe out all the Driver installs, use DDU and wipe out everything for AMD & NVIDIA from within the Safe Mode option.

Then download the Chipset Drivers from AMD and the GeForce 416.16 Drivers from NVIDIA

Just so you're aware, there are "Athlon" CPU's with L3 cache: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103678
