Acer Predator XB271HU or Asus PG278QR
Hey guys,

once again I need your council. Last time I asked what pc parts I should get. Now I have a really nice pc :D
Now after I got that pc I thought that a 4K Monitor was a good idea ( I know ....I know). Dont get me wrong. Its looking fantastic but I bought the pc to play all games on ultra settings for next few years. And I cant do that with the 4k (I know.........suprising right?).
I have looked around and found two monitors that sparked my interest.
I really like my old 144hz ASUS 24'' screen (Asus VG248QE).
So I first looked for a newer model from ASUS and found the PG278QR. Since then I looked at reviews. This review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vUPPjjfmRw kinda stuck out and if anyone has got this monitor, what can he/she say about it?

I also wanted to check out some competition so I took a look at the Acer Predator XB271HU.

I then watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAL1-8i1AKI which kinda compares the two and their result is the ASUS has a slightly better image but cost more.

I hope you guys can help me with a desicion. Or maybe you have a completly other idea.

Now in general, I really want 144hz and G-Sync, a TN-Panel is fine Ive been using one for a long time and I didnt even notice the angle thing so....
I checked out some games in 1440p and the FPS is fine on UItra:
CSGO had 255fps consistent
PUGB had 95fps consistent
and Assassin's Creed Origins had about 75. So I thinnk WQHD should be fine I guess?

My Specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz
16 GB DDR 4 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
WIN 10

Thanks in advance for any help :)

you actually need a i 9 processor if u actually need true usage of 144 hz
just so u know g sync is for low hz monitors ;)
high hertz monitor dont need it
if u plan to go big atleast aim for intel i8800K
or i9 base processor
i own a msi gt75 titan btw i cant handle pc since i have to travel a lot but i do have a 144 hz and g sync in this model :)
i wud still choose asus
for better servicing i will say acer :)

kk thx for the answer :D I thought screen tearing apears when the fps is higher then the monitors refresh rate so for example if I play csgo with 235 fps couldnt there still be screen tearing?

If you are looking for 144hz 1080p monitor, I can vouch for Samsung C24FG73/C27FG73. (depending what size you want, 24" or 27")
A 1080p 144hz curved monitor. The curvature just makes experience in the games so nice. Adds a nice little extra depth. The colors are also great, thanks to a Samsung's QLED MVA panel. Which is only beaten by IPS panels when it comes to colors.

It doesn't have GSync, but IMO it's not needed if you are maxing out the panel's refresh rate anyway.

Although, if you are looking for 1440p GSync, there should be such version of this as well.

The second video has nothing to do with the PG278QR, it mentions comparison to the PG279Q, which is different. The PG279Q is not any better than the XB271HU either, as they quite literally sport the same exact panel. If you read something saying that one is visually better than the other, then you are reading hogwash, either fanboyism or ignorance of settings.

I'm the owner of XB271HU for about 8 months, and can safely recommend it. Asus PG279Q is technically an analog with the same exact panel. When I was choosing between two, I have read a lot of recent user reviews about Asus quality control issues with the model. So, if you go for Asus, I would advice to ensure that you will be able to choose a good exemplar before buying. But the same advice should be applied for Acer, just in case.

As for Acers, they probably still have a firmware bug with a thin switched image parts (happens not very often, turning off/on corrects that, but it's probably still there). Otherwise, I find it very good.

They are the same exact display, just sold by two different companies. Pick the one that's cheapest, has better aesthetics for you, or flip a coin.

Well, I already owned a curved monitor and I didnt like it taht much, but that could have been the monitor.
Btw is the difference between TN and IPS really as big as people always pretend? I kinda dought that...

Those monitors are all overly expensive, and you want IPS since it has far better color accuracy. Go to a big electronics store like MediaMarkt and check them by yourself, you might be able to find the Viewsonic version of that 27 inch IPS 144 HZ panel, tell them to do something on the price and carry it home... I'd never pay €750 for a 27 inch 144HZ monitor, it's a rip off.

No pretending necessary. IPS was quite literally created to solve the issues of TN.
