How to tell: Dying Case fan?
I just looked over to my pc and my fan was barely even turning. A few restarts and a bios look later and now it's running at about 610 RPM versus my others around 1200 up. What symptoms should I look for to see if it's dying? My computer needs dusted, haven't done it since i got it which i think is 2 years and this may end up pushing me to fork out money i don't have to finally do it. It's my only outtake fan so i may have to make a trip.....to geeksquad today, despite their prices.

What symptoms should I check for a dying fan?
Edit: I don't hear any noticeable noise and it is summer so it seems VERY suspect that it was spinning weak and not even recognized by HW monitor until post-restarts

When a fan dies, it will just simply stop spinning suddenly or makes a very noticeable grinding sound. There is no middle ground in the way they die.

It'll stick or stop, I guess depending on the design it could slow down if the connections become warn, chances are it's on the way out.

Clean your PC. Dust on fans can slow them down. On the blades its extra weight. Might be a little but the motor is design for the orignal weight and not for extra. Dust could also clog around the fans motor, again slowing it down. So get a can of compressed air and clean it.

If you can change fancurves in the Bios set that specific fan to max. See what rpm it reaches. If it should hit 1,200 and is still around the 600 mark its definitely faulty. No amount of dust should reduce a fans speed by 50%

1. Is the fan running at 610RPM the same make/model as those running @ 1200RPM ?
2. Is the fan running at 610RPM connected to the motherboard, if so does it have a 4pin or 3pin connector ?

Same set of fans and i think it's a 4 pin

Plug it directly into your PSU so you know it's getting 12V.

What....in the world.....is going on? Yet another fan came into existence that either doesn't exist or I forgot I had, and it and my cpu fan went psycho. {HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}
Edit: To clarify. I have 2 intake, a closed cpu loop, and I thought just 1 outtake. I don't think my psu reports fan usage.
Edit 2: My computer is not in a position i can just check it, so I won't know until I finally take it to get cleaned, hopefully this week.
