Stop screen dimming in fullscreen videos
If I'm watching a video in fullscreen, it can be on youtube, vlc, whatever, the screen will automatically dim after a few seconds.

Windows 10, R9 380, i5 6500

Is there a fix for this?

Do you have some sort of auto dimming? Is your display a TV because ive noticed that TVs have an auto brightness feature on them

No it's a normal computer monitor.

It's still actively controlled by windows power profile, just disable all dimming periods.

its in the settings app and the legacy control panel. both under power. it'll say "turn off after" etc. just change to never or extend the time beyond the length of your typical videos. I go with 3 hours which covers movies too.

But it's not turning off, just dimming. And it happens almost immediately when I enter fullscreen watching videos.
This a laptop, or desktop?

Press Windows+X to show the menu, and choose Power Options on it.

Check all settings related to screen, in advance, set to zero to turn off dim, shutoff, and screen saver. Do this for month power saving mode, and stander mode.

The only option under "screen" is "when plugged in, turn off after" and that's set to 20 mins.

yeah. you're right. weird. I have watched several long-ish vids on youtube without the screen dimming. Do you have any third party power management programs installed?

Nope.
Press Windows+X > Click on Power Options > New window pop up, click on Additional power settings > New window pop up, click on Change plan settings, come back here to do the same for other mode as well after > Click on Change advanced power settings > scroll down to Display and extend it > under Turn off display after, change to Never / Zero, for Enable adaptive brightness, change to Off; now click Apply, and ok.

Now try it out.

Adaptive is already off and I want it to turn off after 20 mins.
Were you moving the mouse while the video playing in full screen?

When you go full screen put the mouse to the side, and after two/three seconds, the playbar will go away, and screen stop being dim. Or is this Dim all the time, even if you waited few seconds while letting it play?

Once the mouse disappears the screen dims immediately. If I move the mouse it goes back to normal.
- What broswer are you using?
- Is this broswer up to date?
- Does this happen to every site?
- Do you have any extensions for your broswer?
- Any apps running in the background, such as anti virus, or other things, can interact with your broswer, or display?
- Was this something new, or always the case? Also when did it start happening? Could it be when you updated something, or Windows?
