- Should be.
- Youtube and all video players on my computer (vlc, movies, wmp)
- Yes, but because it's not just happening in my browser I don't think they're the issue.
- AVG, f.lux
- Fairly new, probably started around a week or two ago. I updated my graphics card drivers around then but if I remember correctly the dimming started a few days after that, not right away.
have you tried reverting to the previous driver?
Oh well, thanks for trying.
Turns out it was my Samsung monitors. They're the culprit. I have no clue why they started doing this of their own accord, but I went to the SETUP&RESET option, and selected reset>Yes
I don't know which setting was responsible, or how it turned itself on, but the reset fixed it.
TLDR: Reset your actual monitor's settings and hope for the best. Hope this helps!
I had this problem, I just uninstalled flash player from the browser and PC. Dimming issue solved.
And it's only with Opera browser :)
Stop updating gpu driver unless you need to.
The last updates I had was
https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/help/4524100/oct-8-2019-kb4524100-cumulative-update-for-net-framework
https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/help/4517389/windows-10-update-kb4517389
Unfortunately they're cumulative updates so that makes it more difficult to pinpoint which part of it did it.
Edit:
OK, figured out how to fix it in my case. Yesterday I moved my television.
My TV supports HDR but my other two monitors do not. I normally have my TV disabled, because it only gets situational use, however unplugging and plugging it back in when I moved it reactivated it.
So to fix this issue, go into Display Settings, either disable the HDR monitor OR switch the switch that says to use HDR for fullscreen applications off.
I suspect Chris (above) is right with this being an Nvidia driver issue.
This fixed it for me as well. I just got a new monitor with HDR, my other old monitor doesn't support it.
Right click > Display settings > Select your HDR monitor > Turn off HRD games and Apps.
Real crappy fix, since the point of getting an HDR monitor is so you can play in HDR. But im not watching grayed out movies.
