2TB NVMe m.2 SSD suggestion
So my laptop came with a 512GB NVMe boot drive with an extra m.2 slot supporting only another NVMe drive. I'm trying to decide which SSD to get, so far the Samsung 970 Evo seems to be the best bet, all for speed, reliablity and price.
I'm also considering rather than dropping $800 on a new drive right off the bat, spending $400 on a single terabyte, probably WD Black. My main questions are,
Why would somebody prefer the more expensive 960 Evo over the 970 Evo?
would it be better to put in the WD Black and then sometime down the line swap out the 512GB Toshiba for another WD Black 1TB if I need the space?
Are there any other NVMe m.2 drives that are 2TB besides Samsung's? (Hopefully not over $1000)
What are your experiences with Samsung verses WD verses Toshiba verses other...?
Thanks!

...and they're also sh1t slow in comparison.

The 960 Evo might only cost more because it's an old price. The 970 is obviously better, and if you have such money to drop on storage, then do go for SSD-only. Whether you're going to do NVMe, M.2 SATA or SATA. The first thing I do to laptops is to take out the HDD and replace it with an SSD.

What laptop is it that it only support NVMe drives? All M.2 Ports also are SATA III capable while not all M.2 Port are capable of NVMe...

Since you have a M.2 Port (doesnt mean it is NVMe) means you could also buy a way cheaper Samsung 850 or Samsung 860 M.2 or any other M.2 drive like WD Green or WD Blue.

Sorry, late reply!

No, it does not support HDD, honestly, I play Skyrim with my wife all the time, and I remember the 5-10 sec loads between fast-travels and whatnot being totally fine, but on the NVMe SSD that it's on now, I never have any loads longer that 1sec. And it's awesome!

It's the GS65 stealth thin 8RF, I actually bought an 860 2TB, but it wouldn't connect, I even took it to Best buy and wasted $50 for them to tell me that it wasn't compatable with the slot. The boot drive Toshiba NVMe is in a "both compatable" m.2 slot, but the other one is strictly NVMe as detailed by MSI. They offered to clone the Toshiba to the 860, swap them out, and then put the Toshiba in as a secondary drive for an extra $250... And I was like screw that... Besides, I kind of wanted an NVMe instead.

only 1tb, but a good bit cheaper.

That is a good deal, however, I've always trusted WD, I've never had any experience with Adata, and though they have pretty good reviews, Id be willing to spend an extra $20 on a company I'm more familiar with...
Now to almost contradict what I was just saying :/,
https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIA6ZP7BD9091,
A little more than $100 cheaper and claims to be about half the speed, however, I've seen some reviews that it is still 20x the speed of a 7200 HDD, what do you guys think, is Kingston a good option?
