Supposed CPU error (5 short beeps)
i5 8400
Stock fan
Gigabyte B360M DS3H
Evga 650 GQ
Corsair Vengeance LPX (8GB x1)
Beeper thing
Rosewill Nautilus (I'm using it to power on/off)

One thing I noticed is that the port in the motherboard for the CPU is:
1221
2112
While the male end on the wire is:
1121
1112
Where 1 is like a fish scale (top half is square, bottom is is a half-circle) and 2 is a square. It still fits though.

Each time before I tried something, I'd disconnect the power supply (off button, from motherboard, and from wall)

Things I tried:
Reseating the RAM in each of the different slots
Checkin the CPU pins (they're all fine)
Connecting the CLR_CMOS with a screwdriver and screw several times (10-20 sec)
Replacing the CMOS battery
Removing the battery and letting it sit for about 10 min
Trying to power the motherboard with either 20 pins and 24 pins connected.
Using different CPU-power supply wires.
Plugging the wires labeled into CPU1 and then CPU2 on the power supply
Turning ECO on and off

I get 5 short beeps every single time, which (according to Gigabyte) is a CPU error.
Occasionally it will shut itself on and off before 5 short beeps.
Motherboards placed on top of cardboard which itself is on top of a piece of cloth which itself is on a wooden desk.
CPU is inserted correctly (Yes, I'm sure).
I don't see any excess thermal paste squeezing out the side in between the fan and CPU or on the pins or motherboard.

Did you just build/buy it or have you already had this machine for a while?

Unplug everything the PC does not need to get in to the BIOS and try again. That includes HDDs, sound cards, flash drives, headphones, graphics card etc..

RMA the motherboard. If a new mobo gives you the same issue RMA the CPU.

All new parts that arrived yesterday. No other peripherals or hardware attached. I didn't buy any sort of "protection plan" would that be the same thing as a warranty?

You always have warrantly from the seller for at least a few months aswell as serveral years of warranty via the manufacturer.

Pull the CPU and check the CPU socket close to see if any of the CPU pins are bent.
