Go with home 64bit if its only for gaming and some office/web stuff.
Just make sure your hardware supports w10.
Windows 7 was a great OS. Operative word was. Windows 10 is effectively an upgrade on every level, there's no sensible reason to use the older, less secure platform.
Win 8.1 was a disaster and even Microsoft freely admits that. There's a very deliberate marketting reason why Windows 9 never became a thing; Microsoft wanted to distance themselves.
And finally you have Windows 10. It's not the greatest OS ever made, it's certainly not the best version of Windows there's ever been. But it's the best OS currently available, and there's no rational reason to use anything else.
I don't know about windows 8.1, honestly I never used it. It has that windows 10 feeling with a twist of windows 7 features and stabilization.
Windows 7 will be dead in 1.5 years and Windows 8 is unofficially already dead.
I've been using Win10 since it became available, I've never had an issue with seasonal updates. In fact it's been a remarkably reliable OS. That's the only thing I like about it.
Yes, but not sure why you would want to. After all, there is a lot of important day-0 safety updates.
Without them, you're basically inviting malware and other stuff into your computer.
Just deal with this update crap and keep your machine updated. Reinstall Windows clean after each major update, it's what I do.
The VAST majority of issues are caused by the user.
That's a terrible idea. Updates keep your PC secure. Next time there's a major malware outbreak, your system will be toast and you'll lose all your data and possibly all your accounts and other information. Is that really better than not having to update?
There's no need to stop updates stop listening to the half baked burners out there.
My 3rd PC finally did the win 10 1803 update yesterday here's what happened.
It failed to update because of some sort of corruption, so I think for 30 sec ah ok it must be PIA VPN causing the problem. I set PIA not to start with win startup and poof win 10 1803 installs with no problems no biggie, to me this was a very minor hickup.
Ppl just have to think
