How well would a 1050TI overclocked run VR
Title. I’m planning on getting VR, and waiting on the next gen to get a better card. How well will a 1050TI run games in VR?

What about the rest of your sys?

^This, you want at least a 1060 6gb or 1070. These games need to run at 90fps or higher to keep you from becoming motion sick.

Well.. the setup is not rly balanced, i7, 8gb 2133 and a 1050ti.

Anyway, the 1050 ti is wrong gpu for your goal.

Min. u should own/have/buy- see post #1 & #2

I know the setup isn't balanced. I got the i7 because I needed a CPU upgrade and didn't want to buy a new mobo for an i5 8600k

And I'm looking to see if the games can run. Not if I need to upgrade it.

Yes, it will run, but it won't run well, seeing how FPS is everything for VR, this could be a bad proposition as low fps can lead to nausia.

At minimum you need GTX 970 performance which the 1050ti does not give. Current lowest end card that may have a chance at running VR is the 1060 3GB.

Though I’m not planning on getting games like Pavlov VR, which require a 970 if my memory is good. I’m only getting Beat Saber as of now, which requires a 960.
960 is stil lbetter than 1050ti

You'll be able to get by on some games, but nothing really spectacular. You'd be able to play something like Beat Saber, as it is simply floating blocks, light sabers, and an empty void to play it all in... but is that all you expect out of VR? You'd end up just playing Beat Saber and work simulators, until you got a good enough gpu.

I'd recommend waiting for VR, just like you are waiting on a new gpu. Get them at the same time and have a good first experience with VR.

I can pay for a 1070, but don't want to buy one as the next gen of GPUs are pretty close.

Next gen GPUs are likely to be 6-12 months away. Don't bother waiting, just buy.
