I7 6700k High temps
So I OC my CPU to 4.4 but I realized the temps were too high since they hit close to 90 degrees. So I put it back to normal settings and now when I play a game like r6 my temps are in the 85-95 degree range, it was in the 70s yesterday B4 I did this whole thing, does anyone know what the problem could be and how I can fix

My CPU is water cooled
And these are degrees in Celsius
I'm using coretemp to measure btw

You are sure you reset the Voltage to stock?

reapply thermal paste and clean fans
Did you change the CPU voltage back to auto?
Is today hotter weather than it was yesterday? My CPU is almost 5 degrees Celsius hotter today when gaming as it's much warmer weather today compared to yesterday.

I never changed the voltage but I checked and it's still normal

It's colder today than it was yesterday so that can't be it

I'm gonna try that but idk if one day can make a 20 degree difference

Load optimized defaults in the BIOS. Obviously something was changed, so just reset BIOS and check temps.
Also I forgot to mention that the temps are the same as the were before on idle

^^

the thermal pad/paste tends to give up the ghost before the chip itself will. It's probably got a poor interface to the HSF. Cleaning it up and reapplying the paste should bring things back to normal.
The paste won't suddenly go bad overnight so I can guarantee it's not that, it would be creeping up over time.

Chances are something got changed in the bios so just reset it as others have said.
That's also a very high temperature for a relitively low overclock as well, but that's to be expected with auto voltage, it cannot be trusted when overclocking as it always feeds wayyyy to much power.

So I figured it out lol I was an idiot and around was updating while I was playing I paused it it went down, I then left it off for a bit and then it back on and the temps seem fine, thanks for all the help

paste ho bad only in one night my dude reember u oC it too
huh ? sorry, but paste wont go bad in one day, it takes ages to go off and then it is a gradual decline in performance not suddenly.
