switching case from dell to micro atx

Will the dell 390 go into a micro atx or will i have to buy a new mobo? i already bought a new 500w psu for the new case.. so the big question is the mobo..?? any help with it id be very very grateful im kinda stuck

You can try but cant be sure since most of those office bundle motherboards are custom manufactured for that company.
The motherboard I/O shield might not match with the case or motherboard holes might not align with case motherboard stands.
Cant really tell unless you try.

Looked at several sites and none of them list the type of motherboard in that case. Just by looking at the case I'd say it has a standard/full size ATK motherboard so no it won't fit into a micro atx case.

Dell 0F6X5P is not ATX, looks like micro-ATX but it's kinda odd and definitely custom made for Dell, might not align up with standard micro-ATX case I/O shield slot and motherboard stands.

mt, mini tower (standard case size close to m-atx)
dt, dekstop (thin tower close to m-atx but low profile)
sff, small form factor (close to itx and low profile)

dell is a crapshoot for swapping boards into a new case
many are not atx/itx layouts
finding an appropriate io shield will be difficult

the m-atx style boards look close, but missing the screw on the bottom right corners
the sff itx board is not itx layout
make sure you only use standoffs for the screw holes the board has

then you have to re-map the front panel connectors
may involve soldering if they are not standard pin spacing

you can try it, if it does not work, or is too much work to make it fit right
pick up a better 1155 board for cheap *may also need a new cpu heatsink

its the SFF which im thinking is the hardest to re-case?

Yup. Branded PCs, Dell amongst others and notorious for using Custom hardware that makes upgrading and swapping things out a nightmare. It's a way to make you go back to them when people want upgrades as they target those that have no clue about building and upgrading PCs.

the new pentium g will beat the old i5, but 8-16g ram will cost $80-160+

yeah i can get a new board but i dont really have the money to do it all at once right now

check on ebay for a 1155 m-atx board
most from asus/msi/gigabyte/asrock will be fine

id avoid foxconn/intel as they are also used in oems
but if they are said to be m-atx they should be ok

should be able to get a stock 115x fan for under $10
