60hz on 144hz monitor.
Hello, I have monitor ag271qg from like a year, but lately I noticed some kind of problem. No matter what all games i run wont exceed 60 fps on steam (it didnt' happen before)

Of course i turned v-sync off and every setting on nvidia pannel is set on default(tried working with that, nothing). G-sync enabled/disabled changed nothing.

I had no idea what's going on, so i checked my monitor and there is something i dont understand. I have monitor's hz set to 144, but UFO TEST shows me that it's only 60? I don't understand what's even going on. Whether that's gpu problem or monitors?

Of course im using display port, and my gpu is gtx 960.

Check your windows settings.

Settings -> System -> Display -> Display adapter properties -> Monitor -> Screen refresh rate.

GTX 970 = 1080p monitor 60 refresh rate.
GTX 980ti = 1440p 60 refresh rate.
SLI GTX 980ti = 1440p @144 refresh rate.

I mean i could run games earlier at 150 fps and i was playing very smoothly with 144hz. So idk what does that mean that only sli gtx 980 can handle that.

Check the monitors settings directly, you'll want to refer to the manual as some can override others which could of lead to this issue, usually backlighting options can cause problems if I remember right.

Beyond that, your sure the games you are trying aren't locked at 60fps?
Pekuses Jun 24, 2018 @ 1:53pm
I checked monitor options many times already, even rebooted it.
Yeah i'm sure my games aren't locked there isnt even option like that in most of them.

On games like lol and csgo, but i doubt in newer games.

I think chief's point was, the 960 wasn't rly designed for 1440/144hz gaming coz of 128-bit and blah.

Anyway btt..

Well since nothing rly worked, hm.. would try a clean nvidia driver install.

Or.. the screen has defective firmware.

??? Now it works? I mean i don't know if installing old drivers, or rebooting monitor worked. But ufo test now shows proper HZ. I don't get it but since it works then i'm glad :) Thx guys for showing interest in my problem. I wish you a nice day.
