Low FPS on certain games - (Core i5 6500 + GTX 1060 6GB)
Issue mostly noted in GTA V. This was posted on GTA forum as well, nobody could sort this out.

I have noticed that when I become Wanted, I immediately get FPS drops that can stutter my FPS into half of what it should be. I've tried to find numerous solutions to this problem, including reinstalling OS (Tried Windows 8.1 as well)

My specs are: i5-6500 | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB RAM @ 2113 MHz | Game runs on 4TB Segate hard drive | OS installed on 120GB SSD | Windows 10 Build 1803

As soon as I become Wanted, my FPS will plummet to 45-35 and then stay at that while micro stuttering. I run the game at 60FPS at all other times and it never goes below that @ High preset settings.

Some background processers running :
Steam
Logitec Gaming Software
Creative Sound blaster X-Fi MB3

Any thoughts these could affect performance? Game was perfectly working few months ago. As i can remember before the 1803 update. Nvidia driver version currently installed : 397.31

Check your cpu temperatures.

Using a CM Hyper 212 LED. With 3D mark stress, CPU temp goes up to 65c (Max)

Ok, then check your cpu, gpu and HDD usage when that happens.
The temps are obviously good.

CPU usage : 100%
GPU Usage : 60% - 70%
Disk usage : 10% - 20%

There's your problem: cpu bottleneck.
Which is weird considering i5 6500 should be plenty for 1060 even on a cpu heavy game like GTA V.

Check the clockspeed your cpu runs at.

Max it goes to 3.6. But this game was working perfectly before. I tried to run the game without logitec gaming software. Seems okay, does not drop FPS to 20-40, but drops to 50-55.

That's more along the normal area.
So it might have been caused by that software.

Anyway i used it before this 1803 update. Worked smoothly. Now not... *facepalm*

I didn't have a problem with 1803.

However if you are, clean off GPU drivers and reinstall, use DDU Google it.

Check taskmanager for chrome/firefox/opera cpu consumption for idle.

Hey, I have I5-6500 and EVGA GTX 1060 3Gb, same problem here. As soon as I get wanted, textures dissapear. I get 10%-50%-68% GPU Usage, while CPU is 100%, anyone know why? It wasn't like this when I first installed the game and built the computer 1.5 years ago...

was there a recent patch that broke it?
check the gta forum

GTA V is very CPU Heavy and can utilize more then 4 threads. You always going to bottleneck with older i5's. If you wanna fix it and get stable performance you should throw an i7-7700K, i7-7700, i7-6700K or i7-6700 on that motherboard. I would go for the first after a Bios update.

The 8thread of hte i7 will fix the CPU bottleneck in this game.

Well considering I get around 60-70fps with an i5-4460 it's definitely not his CPU.
