GTX 1050 Ti on a 250W PSU?
Could I do it?
My current specs:
GTX 750 2gb PNY
8gb RAM
AMD Athlon II X4 640
250W PSU
I can’t upgrade the PSU or anything else, don’t suggest new hardware, I’d just like to know if a 250W could work.

It is possible, but your cpu will hold you back in some games. Your cpu would be hitting 100% and 1050Ti running at 60-80%.

It should be perfectly doable. Do check if the 1050 ti you are looking to buy requires any extra power connectors or not, if it does make sure your PSU has those.

GTX 750 is 55W card, GTX 1050 Ti is 75W, could work but could also push it over the edge.
Usually recommended to have 300W PSU for GTX 1050 Ti.

In short...no. That would require at least a 350 Watt PSU to run efficiently. And 550Watts for any GPU upgrade options.

Thanks for the responses! My CPU is always at 100% anyway on every game. Sad thing about that is I can’t upgrade that until I get a better motherboard. And I can’t afford any of that. I’ll invest in a GTX 1050 when I get the chance.

No difference, GTX 1050 uses same 75W as GTX 1050 Ti.

Yeah I know. I meant to put Ti.

Yeah. In your case I can also advice to hold off until you can buff your budget. 250W is risky. More if it's a low quality grey box PSU that looks like an OEM part. There are plenty of games out there that your current system can handle.

So unless you are really desperate to play a certain game, I'd say, chip spare change into a PC hardware savings box (not a bank account because banks are evil), and wait a bit. Then you can buy yourself a better system down the road. It's what I did back when I was starting out with video games and then PC stuff.

As long as the 1050ti doesn't need additional power (and most don't) you'll be fine with a 250w PSU, as there's no way the rest of the system pulls 175w.

I mainly wanted a new GPU for PUBG, I used to get 50-60 FPS no problem but now its almost unplayable.
