Underclocking GTX 1070
My rig:
AMD Phenom II x6 1100t (stock speed) with a Hyper 212 cooler
Asus Sabertooth 990 FX
Ripjawz 16G (4x 4G) DDR3 1600
Asus GTX 1070 OC dual fan
OCZ 850w Gold modular PSU

Obviously, my CPU (and socket for that matter) is currently my bottleneck, but I'm not looking to upgrade since I've already maxed out the AM3 socket. I was casually looking for a 1060 to match to my 1100t, but a feller at work posted a new-in-box 1070 for the same money as a 1060, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. Now, I'm looking to underclock my 1070 mostly just to save some power and let it run a bit cooler.

Here's a cool demo of a dude undervolting a 1060. Does anyone know of some generic 'baseline' settings for undervolting a 1070?

Also, does decreasing the core clock and memory clock both reduce heat or is the main heat generator the voltage? Thanks in advance!

Voltage and the square root of the delta drop in GPU clock speed decreases heat output. 👍
