Any good QUIET gaming keyboards?
So, I got a new mechanical keyboard, it feels GREAT for typing and gaming, and it felt good quality most importantly.
But my dad demanded I return the keyboard because it was too loud, the store wouldn't accept a refund, so my dad shortly after threw it in the bin (trust me, I argued that I could sell it but he refused)

I'm looking for a keyboard that's backlit, doesn't have super-mushy keys, and that isn't as loud as a mechanical keyboard, and though I started with $150 budget for this, not being able to sell my mechanical keyboard (cause my dad threw it in the bin) leaves me at only $30 to spend on a decent keyboard.

Also, my standards for a mechanical-feeling keyboard are rather low, I'm normally used to gaming on a terrible $5 mushy membrane keyboard (that demands I press each key as hard as I physically can)

That's not going to be possible. There are no mechanical keyboards under $30, and they're certainly not quiet. I'm not sure you'll find any keyboard for that price, I'm not seeing anything on any of my local stores for under $49.

Mechanical keyboards are like assault rifles; they're always going to make a loud noise, even if you muffle them. I have one of the stealthy-est models, a Ducky Shine Six, and it's been muffled with O-Rings and an XXL mousepad. Even it makes plenty of noise.

doesn't have to be mechanical, just not mushy.

most of the noise is the key bottoming out (if you are a heavy typer), a oring set will quiet them farther

and how about the clicking noise from tapping keys lightly?

brown has no clickity, and quieter clack
oring will get rid of the cliack noise on press, and shorter release distance reduces that noise some

so... if I tap lightly, there's no audible click? (Or at least, click is as quiet as membrane?) actually nvm, saw the vid, click is still too audible.

ok nvm, I'm just gonna buy a $5 cheap keyboard... I can't own a any quality keyboard without my dad hating on it....

Try the "Cherry Stream" ~15-20 bucks.
Low profile keyboard, as silent as it gets.
I've been using logitech g510 for the past 8 years, and is still working. Its spill resistant, Backlit..but its not mechanical. I bet you can find cheap one for like 30-40$
Sorry but gotta say this out loud...

Throwing a perfectly fine mech keyboard away just like that? So what next? Get rid of the mouse for being too 'clicky' and the monitor cuz it's too bright(he probably knows you can tune it down)? Damn, he is one hell of a control freak parent. :steamfacepalm:
You dad sounds a tad immature. No offense.

Maybe you need to relocate the pc to an area where he doesnt have to hear you all the time?
I own a keyboard with cherry brown switches (WASD CODE-87), there is no clicking noise, the only audible noise comes from the keys tapping the bottom, which you can muffle with those rubber ring/silencer things.
I think you have a bigger problem; your dad being so irratated by your keyboard that he would just throw it out.

if I could, I would, but unlike my craptop and MacBook Pro, my main computer must be in the living room where my dad can see what I'm doing.... (cause this is my "school" computer and he wants to know when I'm goofing off, or schooling, even though I've told my dad a million times that the MacBook is actually more compatible with my school than my main PC)
