GTX 1080 or Vega 64?
Which one is better
Messaggio originale di Monk:
The two are pretty much equal when it comes to performance.
The 1080 has the benefit of gameworks features in certain games (though these are not needed), but gsync monitors cost more, on the other hand, freesync screens are £100-200 cheaper for the most part, so that's a really nice bonus.

I'd base my choice on if you plan to get a new monitor and which is cheapest at the time.

I have a Vega 64 along with sli 980's and sli 1080ti's and have run benchmarks comparing the various combos, the Vega 64 comes in very close to the sli 980's, which, by coincidence pretty much match a 1080 for performance.

There is nothing wrong with a Vega 64, yes it uses a bit more power but not enough to have any real impact on bills, if it is, you shouldn't be buying expensive pc kit.

A 1080 will use around 160-200w under normal gaming, a Vega 64 will use 200-300. A 1080ti will pull around 225-300w.

Hardly end of the world numbers.

As I originally said, you should weigh up the pros and cons of both cards and choose accordingly, power draw isn't really an issue on either, performance is about equal.

Nvidia gets gameworks but needs to pay for gsync, AMD gets freesync saving you cash.

Anyone just saying any product is trash with out giving details or explaination doesn't help anyone.

How does 980 in SLI stack up against a 1080 ti? If you OC them.
Not as far behind as you'd expect actually, I'll see if I can find the comparison.
Here's one comparison,

though it isn't exactly perfect with different clock speeds a d the 4790k clearly holding g back the 1080ti's, found a single 1080ti bench run, though not overclocked and the 4790k was only at 4.6 not 4.8 but it gives an idea.

The average use for Vega64 is about 280-290W. But it can peak at 350-390W.

Some models even go above these:

Benchmarks like that make perfect use of multi GPUs, and is not really representative of actual game performance, but thanks for the links anyway! :)
That first link is 260w for gaming, go overclocking anything and the power can go up, but as I've said, power draw really has no impact on most people's decisions as it makes no real difference.

Yeah, they do, but if you look at the actual FPS etc you can. See the differences, and games like bf1 do actually have great scaling, but, yeah, firestrike is great for multi-gpu.
