144Hz Monitor won't show 144hz
hellow, I have an AOC G2460P Monitor, and it says it can run at 144hz.
I have a Nvidia GTX 970 Strix GPU, which should also be able to run 144hz.
And i just got a Display Cable 1.2 that can run 21,6 GB/s.

So do anyone have an idea, why I can't seem to get it to run at 144hz?

all my drivers are up to date.

Yea what was confusing is their DataSheet on this model.
As there is AOC G2460P and AOC G2460PGU
Both have very similar specs; however the PGU is a little better and also allows 144Hz via DP
But their DataSheet speaks for both "P" and "PGU" which is why it was confusing

As I have said this already before, OP has the older model. Some older monitor even has HDMI as the ONLY CABLE for 144Hz.

Wonderful Wild Wild West of 1080p 144Hz.

Best to use the cable come with the monitor.

@chiefputsi it says i have the latest drivers for my nvidia.

And i'll check later if i still have a d-dvi cable, how do i know if its a dual or normal? Easy way to see it?

I was under the impression that displayport cable where the best choice, so Therefore i got that.

Not really, old monitors are a bit finicky that they may support one type of cable for 144Hz.

Thanks alot Everybody I think I've Found the solution, In the manual page 47, it says I need DVI for 144Hz.

What kind of strange monitor does not support 144Hz over DisplayPort?
Mojopete 12/fev./2018 às 11:18
@Cathulhu
My AOC G2460Pqu it's from 2013, and someone in this chat said, that sometimes only monitors only supported 144hz on one of the inputs, and in the manual it said that was on the DVI port.

That's really strange.
Even DisplayPort 1.0 offers enough bandwidth for FullHD at 144Hz.
Someone at AOC screwed up, bad.

Was going to ask which model you had since you left out the last bit of info out for the model number in your OP.

1. Download the latest, or older Nvidia drivers you know that works best for you.
https://www.geforce.com/drivers

2. Download DDU, unpack DDU, then boot Windows into safemode, now run DDU, click only the recommended option, after it finish you will boot back into Windows normally, now install your video driver that you downloaded before. Let us know if that fix your issue.

Nothing strange, you are talking about older model and 1080p 144Hz at that, which is pretty much a mess since the beginning. There's no IPS panel, very few Gsync model and even 6bit TN panel being the norm. Most of the better 8bit TN panels are on 240Hz monitors.

Since the beginning the high refresh rate starts at 1440p where you find the bulk of the better quality model there, and recently moved to UWQHD. 1080p high refresh rate is kind of like a bastard child, I have seen monitors that only work with HDMI.

The manual should list the various frequencies / resolution / cable types combinations. 120Hz might be the fastest you can get for 1080p with a dvi-d cable.

No, you're wrong. Dual Link DVI has no problem with 1080p 144Hz, or 1440p 120Hz.

Except that isn't what he said. He said check his manual as some old monitors have limits on the frequency you can get with the cable type and resolution.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but checking the manual as he suggested gave OP the solution to his problem.

Except that I was the person who told OP it is the DVI cable first that is most likely 144Hz capable. How do I know this? Well the monitor comes with VGA and DVI cable. Not display port. Not HDMI.

And no, he said DVI cable is only capable of 120Hz 1080p which is WRONG. Proof? The monitor.

I thought I said "might be". I never said "is only capable". Please don't put words in my mouth.

144Hz requires the use of the DVI-D or DP
