Not really, old monitors are a bit finicky that they may support one type of cable for 144Hz.
My AOC G2460Pqu it's from 2013, and someone in this chat said, that sometimes only monitors only supported 144hz on one of the inputs, and in the manual it said that was on the DVI port.
Even DisplayPort 1.0 offers enough bandwidth for FullHD at 144Hz.
Someone at AOC screwed up, bad.
1. Download the latest, or older Nvidia drivers you know that works best for you.
https://www.geforce.com/drivers
2. Download DDU, unpack DDU, then boot Windows into safemode, now run DDU, click only the recommended option, after it finish you will boot back into Windows normally, now install your video driver that you downloaded before. Let us know if that fix your issue.

Nothing strange, you are talking about older model and 1080p 144Hz at that, which is pretty much a mess since the beginning. There's no IPS panel, very few Gsync model and even 6bit TN panel being the norm. Most of the better 8bit TN panels are on 240Hz monitors.
Since the beginning the high refresh rate starts at 1440p where you find the bulk of the better quality model there, and recently moved to UWQHD. 1080p high refresh rate is kind of like a bastard child, I have seen monitors that only work with HDMI.
Except that isn't what he said. He said check his manual as some old monitors have limits on the frequency you can get with the cable type and resolution.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but checking the manual as he suggested gave OP the solution to his problem.
And no, he said DVI cable is only capable of 120Hz 1080p which is WRONG. Proof? The monitor.
I thought I said "might be". I never said "is only capable". Please don't put words in my mouth.
You are.
Yep, and you are as well.
