Laptop goes to sleep while gaming with lid closed.

Got an Asus Rog laptop, had it about a year and guess i never really played on 2nd monitor w/o the lid also open as dual screens. Been no problem.

Well today i shut the lid and was playing off the tv via hdmi and after about 5 min the thing went to sleep! All power settings set to never sleep (bat or plugin).

Tried again, same thing. Leave the lid open and its fine (but glared from the side of the tv...)

Searched online and its not an uncommon problem, but no threads actually have a fix listed.

Anybody else experianced/fixed this before with laptops? Seems like a weird glitch but no idea wtf is up with it.

To be clear, all power options are set to never sleep/do nothing. I also reset high performance and readjusted (since win 10 updates sometimes will revert back but not actually change visually the power options).

From what i can tell its asus laptops dating bk to posts i found from 2013...

That's not a glitch, it's a deliberate design feature. All laptops that I've ever seen sleep when you close the lid, whether you have a monitor plugged in or not.

Choosing what to do when the lid closes is a power option setting. You can easily change that.

I can have the lid closed, been watching netflix etc then start up a game and it'll sleep in about 5 min.

Just disable Sleep altogether, very simple.

Not really a fix but rather a possible workaround (though a program that supposed to prevent pcs from sleeping doesnt work).

You disable Sleep Mode; very simple, its right in the Power Options
It's nothing to do with Hybernation; Sleep is a power on state, Hybernation is not.

If the windows power options are being overruled, there's probably some asus powermanagement tool or utility overruling them. Check the asus software that is running.

Yea, rid the Laptop of everything from the OEM brand.
First thing you do when you buy any PC is wipe it clean, fresh install latest Windows OS (64bit)
Then do all Windows Updates, then do all official drivers... shouldn't have any bloatware present.

I'll double check when i get home, but almost 100% sure it doesnt have any asus specific utility for power management.

Also i'll check the bios and see if theres anything there. Just baffling how its so specific on when it happens. I might try also running borderless windowed and see if its the fullscreen part triggering it.

EDIT: Yea there's no power features from Asus on the thing.

Just disable sleep, why need that at all... Then before u launch games, connect your display and the press winkey+p and set to duplicate, once yhe game is running, close the laptop lid

SLEEP IS DISABLED.

Thought that was pretty clear. Again, it dont work like it should, or i wouldnt have made a thread. Its some bug that for all i can tell is specific to the asus rog line.
