GAMES RUNNING IN 32 BIT WITH 64 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM...
I have a 64 bit operating system. Gtx 950 and an i5 7400 with a msi b150 pro vd i think. i have 8 gigs of memory and for some reason only very little seems to be usable around 3 gigs.

32bit program can only use 2g of system ram, not 3g
32bit os can have upto 3.7g of system ram

has nothing to do with file size
fat32 has the 4g file limit
ntfs or exfat 16eb for a single file
Large Address Aware increases that to 4GB, and the maximum RAM for 32-bit OS is limited to 4GB of addressable space; the actual amount of usable RAM depends on the hardware. I turned on CSM on my 13th Gen motherboard and loaded 32-bit Windows, and it had less than 1GB usable.

wow you people got it all wrong....the only real 64bit OS's in use are on cell phones.....ALL VERSIONS OF WINDOWS ARE EXTENDED 32BIT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN 64 BIT OS'S

yes your current version of windows claims its 64 bit but real world the OS coding is 32bit and can execute 64 bit coding.....

noobs still cant admit AMD is the only reason there ever was a 64 bit version of windows......and its never been real 64 bit.....
haha what are you talking about.
and where did you come up with this?
64bit is only good for one thing really, getting access to the upper registers of the memory banks (above 4GB)

it don't matter. there is a dif guy here asking about this.
the fact that your operating system lists less than 4 gigabytes available means that it is likely 32 bit. though your cpu is 64 bit. on the other hand: your gpu benefits from having more ram. 8 gigabytes of ram is almost nothing these days. my modern pcs have 16 to 32 gigabytes.

no he says its got 8GB and games use 4GB (max is 4.5) so no. just no.
windows needs about 4GB to operate these days. and will use more if you have more. seen up to 10GB.

there is no such thing as 32bit win 10/11

32-bit processes use 2GB max by default even on 64-bit Windows. Programs marked Large Address Aware support up to 4GB on 64-bit Windows. 64-bit programs must be marked Large Address Aware or they break horribly, but those apps can allocate beyond any hardware available today.

honestly i don't think these 2 posting here know how to see how much ram is in use by whole system.

So if i download a single 64 bit program everything will switch to 64 bit?

no the program will run in 64 Bit, the rest will still run in 32 Bit.
Hey! Tacoshy! Now thats a name I havent seen here for a long time. IDK if you are still around but get active again bud!
same games are just 32bit...

it doesn't actually matter unless they need to access more than 4,294,967,296 pieces of data at the same time.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
