Hell I have 16GB of fast 2133 ddr3 sitting unused from my 4790k build as the improvement over the 1866 stuff in my longest pc won't even be worth the time to swap it out, let alone actually going and buying it.
The main reason for using DDR4 is that newer CPUs are made to use it over DDR3.
Did it list the CL number?
Either way I am going to finish a second build so I did need more ram
I’ve never heard of the ram before. And didn’t find much online about it. Here’s an amazon link on it
Dolgix 8GB DDR3 2133 PC3-17000 DIMM XMP (4GB x 2) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0099AZJGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_N6NDAb3FPJVDY
Thats not how timings work...
Higher the speed, worse the timings, lower the speed better the timings.
If you are at CL11 on your 1600Mhz kit your new one will likely have higher (worse) timings...
I would also Memtest 86 the crap outta that stuff for a minimum of 48hrs burn in after you get it...
Dolgix is not a known brand name by any means, and if you google the manufactuer part number directly there are only two listings onlnie for this memory, the one you bought and a mirrored listing on the .jo (japanese) amazon adress...
Thats never a good sign...
In the first 72hrs you have it I would suggest you intentional try everything you can think of to force it to fail. Hit it as hard as possible and make the RAM fail now, if its going to, rather than thinking you are OK and having the system tank on you a few months in...
From my readings 1600mhz 90% of the time is cl9
Mines 11. So worse. Right ?
Again from my readings 2133 is usually 11
So I took a gameble on it
If it is in fact 11. It should be better then my current ram
If not. Oh well
I didn’t get it off amazon. That’s just the only info I found on it
All the more reason to test it hard.
Also, yes, if you have lose timings on your ram (which I supose you do, mine is CL9 @1600) then it is possible your new ram, despite the extra speed, might offer similar timings if its higher quality chips.
On the flip side, if the ram sticks are made with budget chips, like your existing DDR3-1600, then it might also have more lose timings compared to quality 2133.
Guess you just have to wait to see, and test it thourghally.
Should be here on Thursday
I thought so but i've seen a few videos talk up ddr4, i'd really rather buy this new case i like for $300 and upgrade the parts later when prices for gpu's and other parts drop back to decent levels.
Userbenchmark shows it’s 7gigs a second faster then my 1600.
So far so good. Looks half decent too
