Mouse keeps disconnecting
I've had my Steelseries Rival 300 for almost a year now, and within the last 2 months, it has been disconnecting and reconnecting randomly. (I hear the "USB removed" sound, and my cursor stops moving) I'm not in a position financially where I can drop $100 on a good new mouse, so I'd be grateful for any help.

I think it's a problem with my pc, but I'm not sure.

-The games I play are mainly Overwatch and R6:Siege (it happens in other games too)
-It only happens when I'm playing a game
-My mouse polling rate is set to 1000
-My keyboard doesn't ever disconnect

I've tried:
-Using a different mouse on this PC (same problem, but that mouse has given me grief before, so take it with a grain of salt)
-Changing USB ports
-Unchecking "Allow this PC to turn off this device(my USB root hubs) to save power"
-Uninstalling and reinstalling mouse drivers
-Uninstalling drivers for devices I don't use
-Uninstalling mouse software (Seelseries Engine 3)
-Updating firmware
-Using original version of mouse software

I'm getting very frustrated, as most games are unplayable for me. Any and all help is appreciated!

My system:

OS: Windows 10 Home (not pirated)
GPU: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
CPU: AMD - FX-8320 (8-core, 3.5 Ghz)
Memory: Kingston - HyperX Fury Blue (2 x 8GB DDR3)
PSU: EVGA - SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold
Mobo: Gigabyte - GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 ATX AM3+
HDD: WD - Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM

Check the "UUniversal Serial Bus Contollers" and "HID" sections of Device manager. Open the properties for each one and in the Power Management tab uncheck any options that pertain to conserving power.

I'm fairly certain that I did that, but I'll double check.

Oof. As much as this may be an “office mouse”, I highly recommend the Logitech M705 as the replacement mouse. Battery life is pretty insane. It’s a laser-based 1,000 DPI mouse.

The cable was faulty. I bought a new one. Rival 600.

Great to hear you resolved it Sp00ks.
Yea the logitech g9x series were notorious for that, poor strain relief at the mouse led to connection breaks inside, and it would do exactly as you experienced.

My razer naga 2014 gaming mouse also did this annoying disconnect and reconnect randomly.
tried every tips from the internet forums no fix, tried writing a ticket to razer support, who was very help full and gave me a "kill razer manual guide" which worked for 36 hours then it began again.

So since my mouse where well used since i bought it i tried to wrap/enforce the mouse cable, where it goes into the mouse casing, with packet tape and then slightly heat it into a solid plastic tube (if you try this fix be careful!! don't heat to much, just enough to melt the tape!!!! ).
So after a few trial runs and tests it worked out perfectly.
(if you are a underage/child get your parents to help you).
