I myself have made a mistake. I have a motherboard with 8 slots so i was like sure the more sticks the better so i went with 8x4gb kit. Now i want to upgrade but i dont have any more slots and would have to replace all my ram to upgrade... And ram is EXPENSIVE.
And i dont think running ram in dual channel makes any noticeable difference outside of some benchmarks. We have some pcs with single channel memory and they perform the same.
Only run single Simms for budget reasons to get started, as in 1 8GB stick waiting to buy a second when you can afford it, dual channel performs better.
