Game Boy Advance sound problem

When i plug in my headphones into my GBA i hear a annoying "bzzzzt" sound in addition to sound of the game, is it because they are in stereo or is it just something malfunctionning in the console ? Sound works well with loud speaker.

first: is the headphone jack compatible to the headphone plug of the gameboy?
second: such noises often come from broken headphne jack/ cable. you should try a differnet one. else is it possible that the headphone plug is defective. to repair such plugs would need a soldering gun and the possibility to get the gameboy open. warning: the gameboy may be destroyed...

The headphones are working on my smartphone, also tried my headset and it does the same thing. I forgot to say than even when the sound of the GBA is turned off i still hear the "bzzzzt" so i guess the problem is from the console.
