New monitor for Photoshop, anime and gaming.
Exactly in this order of importance. My most played game is called Adobe Photoshop and I also watch tons of anime on it. I game too, but not competitive and almost exclusively single-player.

I didn't thought about switching yet, but my brother asked me to get him some second-hand screen and when I looked trough the prices, I told him that "heck I can give you mine for much less" Honestly, ppl are crazy asking almost 50€ for 4:3 LCDs. That moment I noticed that I bought mine already 6 years ago.

My current is a DELL ST2420L (24" TN LED, 1920x1080, 5ms) bought in 2012.

Are there any brands to avoid? (one Phillips lost colors on me in the 486 era and my Relisys died in flames, hope they got extint)

IPS, VA or quality TN?

1920x1080 limit. I don't need more for my GTX 1050 Ti also I would like to stay inside 200€.

24" or 25", 27" not sure if would for the table and also maybe 1080 is too much for it.

IPS panel is best for Photoshop, closest to real color. Dells have good picture quality for editing.

Ips isn't great for gaming though, I would recommend a 144hz 10bit monitor if you can find one.

Notice that gaming is last of his priorities, IPS is still fine for gaming too if you are not into stuff like competitive first-person shooters like CS GO.

I think va is better suited to his needs though, best of both worlds.

VA doesnt have quite the real colors for Photoshop compared to IPS and is usually with worse real refresh rate then IPS unless it's on expensive side VA panel, something like VA ultrawides for gaming.

If it's for serious photo editing, I guess apples 5k screen is the one to go for, I think dell and lg may have a 5k panel also that covers pretty much 100% Adobe rgb colour gambit also, just make sure to drop the Res considerably to play games, oh, and have deep pockets. They for between £1200 to £1800.

On a more budget friendly side of things, I think LG have some great professional 4k IPS screens that if not put of the box, should be configurable to be up to standards, but, if your going from an old LCD TN panel, pretty much any IPS panel will be a huge upgrade.

I let my boss in work to worry about expensive stuff, at home Im fine with a budget option. IPS then, I don't worry about the 5-6ms response, my current isnt any better despite being a TN - though its a 6 year old tech.

Generally I try to avoid Phillips, since their TVs here pretty much they rate third-rate class. I looked on a BenQ AH-IPS display, it has great specs but in looks a bit flimsy and simplistic, another Acer I looked on, had no HDMI port - I said wth?
Im looking at some AOC screens, are they a reliable brand? If is possible I want a screen with A or A+ energy rating.

Alot of high end screens will use display port over hdmi as, frankly, it's far better.

I spend my time 50/50 between photo & video editing and gaming and use a Dell U2715H, it's factory colour calibrated, flicker free but only 60Hz, personally I don't find this an issue as I don't play competative FPS games

There is one thing I don't get, the DELL screen I looked out has a 75hz refresh rate but supports freesync. Will I be able to get 75hz with my nVidia?

Another thing is that several reviews mention that HDMI lacks of 0-255, supports only 16-235 limited RGB range.

Means the monitor is less suitable for photoshop?
rotNdude 2018 年 5 月 17 日 上午 9:21
Freesync just means it can automatically synchronize refresh rates below the native refresh rate. If the monitor can support 75Hz at the resolution you are running at, it will run at 75Hz. It doesn't matter if it's an AMD or Nvidia card.

I don't know about the RGB stuff.

The monitor is bought and hooked on. Its a BenQ GW2780. Technically a 60hz screen but rest of the features are much better as the DELL I looked on first.
No dead pixels either, guess Im okay until 4K becomes standard.

It has a DP port, but no cable included. It is worth to get one over HDMI what I use now?
