Ethernet help
I've connected my ethernet cable into my PC but it won't connect and it says
"Ethernet"
"Unidentified Network"
"Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller"
I don't want whatever the realtek pci thing is, nor do i know what it is or how i have it. I just want to use my own wifi (BT) So i can finally play my games without lagging. Any help will help greatly.

The Realtek is your onboard ethernet controller, since you have it (and its driver installed it seems) but can't connect, it's probably a problem with your cabled connection to the modem.

For wi-fi, you'll need to stick an antenna to the back of your motherboard unless it has one onboard, or buy a wi-fi card to plug into one of your PCI-E slots.

Where does it say that?

That Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is your network controller.

First you says your PC is connected via ethernet and then you say you want to use Wifi? So what do you want exactly?

And what is this about games and lag?

What you are saying makes no sense.

Realtek GBE is in use BECAUSE you have an ethernet cable connected to it, thats where you get the connection from.

If you want to use wifi then remove the ethernet cable and connect via Wifi, IF your PC/Laptop has onboard wifi.

If you are trying to use the ethernet connection, then turn off wifi.

I want to use ethernet. When i disconnect from the wifi it continues to be the same, “Unidentified network” and no connection. When i troubleshooy it, it says something along the lines of not knowing my IP address or similar.

If you have a different cable, you can try that.

You can also try restarting your modem/router

in addition to disabling the ethernet adapter and enabling it again

Just an FYI, windows 10 supports airplane mode and that would do it. If so turn it off. Also make sure your router has DHCP server enabled.
