How often do you guys upgrade a case?
I upgraded to a corsair crystal 570x in may of 2017 and am replacing my motherboard and cpu soon, and i really like the nzxt h700i but thinking it might just be a waste of money. Thoughts? Its purley for asthetics, main reason i want to upgrade is corsair crystal meh wire managing options and has a half uncovered psu cover, which bothers me.

As with any hardware, you upgrade it when it no longer meets your needs. For a case, you mostly upgrade it when it no longer fits the stuff you want to put inside or maybe to improve cooling performance. But, it's your money, so if you want to waste it on a case, go ahead.

nothing wrong with upgrading a case for aesthetic reasons. if it's worth the cost to you, then go for it.

Yeah I dont have issues with the cooling, and all, just doing a big overall of some parts and figured might as well put new case into the mix if i can afford it.

btw, you can buy a shroud cover for the 570x.

The reason I love my phantek enthoo primo so much is the completely hidden PSU in the rear half of the case.
With that said, there are aspects of it I don't like. It only has an acrylic side panel, which sort of bugs me, and unless I use a bay Res I can't really run a dual loop setup, so if I come across a case that can totally hide the PSU, has enough space to hide all the storage out of sight, is open enough to run dual loops with a pair of big tube reservoirs, has tempered glass, isn't the tower 900 and doesn't cost £800 like the case labs or enthoo elite options, I'll likely buy it purely so I can make my build look cooler.

Ideally a good case should last a long time. If you have purchased a cheaper/basic one in the past then it is worth a decent one to last. You do not have to spend a fortune to get a decent one.

Here is mine.

It is great for my needs although may not be available now. My logic is simple. It has room for a lot of components if an upgrade requires it.

My favourite car is my old Antec p180 I've had over a decade now, I'm looking to replace it so it looks a bit smarter in my lounge, but, damnit, its so quiet and the filters work so well, I'm yet to choose a good replacement.
But it is a bit grubby and a mess after all this time and being transported thousands of miles over the years, plus, I can't fit a modern GPU in it, which is why it got degraded from main rig to htpc to begin with, but goes to show a good case can last a hell of a long time.

best awnser imo.

The question should not be how often we are upgrading the case but soley down to 2 questions:

1st: Do you want a new case for what ever reason?
2nd: Can you afford to upgrade the new case?

Nothing in my computer is odler then 9 month. In the last year I upgraded my MoBo trice, My CPU trice, my PSU and case twice and my RAM 4 times. Oh and my CPu Coller also 4 times. Did I need it? Yes and No. Technically No mentally yes. I just wanted it and I can afford so the question is not what others would do (proberly nobody else would be so crazy like me) but it is my hobby and my money. Same for you, dont ask if others would upgrade their case to one they would like mroe but if you would and could.

My last case lasted 10+ years, 3 motherboard/CPU/Ram upgrades + several GPUs and other hardware. Needed better airflow when I upgraded to a 4790k so it was time for that to go. I plan on keeping my current case aslong as possible.

Never again. I got a Tower 900. Though it is limited to LC fof the most part, Ive managed to secure an outstanding airflow and LC combination. Im not scared to cut a case either though. Its far too large in all honesty but screw it, Ill likely never need another unless i want one.

If you want to, if the case has more airflow and space and you have the money I guess go get it

I'm using the same generic case my old Duron 800mhz was in.

Depends on needs.

Running with a Cooler Master Scout for the last six years or more. Back up runs in a Cooler Master 5 from 2005. I like Cooler Master because you can get parts for them . One of these days i need to get a Cosmos.
