Can I overclock an AMD E2-7110 APU?
I read that you couldn't but that was from one person. I want to hear what ya'll think. It has a base speed of 1.80 Ghz

It's a laptop APU. So no.

It's a very basic and cheap low budget Laptop for your very basic OS and Multimedia needs; nothing more. As far as Games, even some Java and DX9 Games may struggle on that even.

The main reason is TF2. It struggles immensely. After some settings changes I'm able to get 25 fps now though :steamhappy:

Even if you could, it would probably thermal throdle in a laptop

Sorry, even TF2 needs like and FX-6300 or better for most part.
Just like CSGO

For Mobile that translates to around a Intel 2nd Gen i5 Quad Core or better.

Mine runs the valve engine just fine, 40-50fps average. I've heard that the 7110 is locked, but that could just be the multiplier and not the base speed. I think overclocking a laptop is feasible if you prepare right and adjust your expectations. Mine runs pretty cool when being pushed (I’ve taken alot of precautions with programs like Process Lasso) and I got a fan wearing out. Recently bought a new one from a better brand, and if you COULD fit in a more powerful fan then I’d definitely say you’d have extra headroom over stock. I’ve never overclocked so I can't say for sure, and anyone who has would tell you to just invest in a better CPU, some of us just have other investments. I did just put $50 into my HP 255 G5, new 500GB SSD, 16GB 1600ghz Samsung RAM, that Sunon fan, Noctua paste, gonna try for an upgraded battery. System should definitely run cooler, if you’ve taken precautions to make everything else right (optimization or possibly undervolting) then I’d say entirely realistic. I wanna have faith in my E2, this notebook has sentimental value. If I could have a reliable portable rig, I’d just be satisfied to run some stock FL projects

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
