It's not really better overclocker, just has little higher turbo frequency.
I would put that $70 towards good CPU cooler instead.
Both CPUs will comfortably reach 5.0 GHz with Air Cooling.
if you do think it's worth it, get the 8086k. if not, get the 8700k.
I wouldn't bother seeking a binned chip. Even if you're serious about overclocking, an average or below-average 8700K is more than powerful enough. And a good one will overwhelm an NH-D15 long before it runs out of voltage.
That's actually been my problem with the 8700K. I got lucky, I have a really good one. And I'm sitting here with it maxed-out on temperature, but with a huge margin on voltages.
Back to topic:
depends on where you come from. 8086k is at least very pricy here, around 30-40% more, for just 300 mhz more on stock? Nah, not worth it.
That doesn't make any sense; it's much better CPU.
A binned 8700K would be something that would get locked and turned into a 8700 non-K or maybe even an 8600 with Cores and/or HT disabled.
<300 for 8700k or ~380 for 8086k.
8086k for 320 or so would be a no brainer imho.

not sure where you are seeing an 8700k at sub £300.

Or on Amazon.co.uk for 309.
That's why i was a bit confused.
big sidenote, even cheaper:
for now the UK is still in the EU & Schengen, so you could just order anywhere inside this realm, and get it for <280 pounds.
So that's 280 vs 380 pounds, nah, not worth it.
