Manual overclock vs gpu boost

Will I get any improvements by manually overclocking my GTX 1050 ti vs letting gpu Boost do its thing?

Manual overclocking can give you a very tasty performance gain on some cards, provided they have enough cooling to stay stable at the higher clock. GPU Boost is kinda conservative, there's plenty of performance left to extract if your cooler can handle it. I got a nice couple of percent from my GTX970 Strix, and that contributed a critical few FPS at Ultra in the games I was struggling with.

What's the make and model?

Well you should be able to get something. It'll be heckin' loud but you should be able to find some FPS. MSI Afterburner would be my recommended toolkit, and Unigine Superposition and Heaven for benching.

I love tuning little cards like this. There's just something really satisfying about squeezing extra performance out of something basic.

Increase the Core and Memory clocks in small amounts, say about 25mhz each and try to get a feel for what the card can accept

+50 Core and +85 Memory should be something to try for that card, you dont want to go overboard.

Overclocking a GPU won't disable the boost, just work yourxway up testing as you go, 10MHz at a time for core, 50MHz at a time for memory, use afterburner, and have unigine heaven benchmark running in a loop, first sign of failure or artifacts, pull it back one step.

ONLY do core, then when it is done work on the memory, else you won't know the reason for failure, as long as temps remain under 85 ish your good, when you think you have your overclock locked in run 3dmark fire strike to make sure it passes then test a few games.

But not Fortnite, some reason that game doesn't seem to like overclocks lol

gpu boost is pretty meh, you need very good cooling to get decent gains from it. manual overclocking is better, and if you wanna go to the extreme, you can edit the gpu bios and increase the max wattage and voltage. my 960 goes a few mhz over 1500 core and with bios changes it will go over 1600mhz core.

There is no real boost for Maxwell, but pascal is completely different and makes a huge difference.

Should swap to afterburner, use precision X to set rgb (for evga cards) and then use afterburner to actually overclock with, I've always found it far more reliable and gotten better speeds with it, even on my 1080ti ftw3's.

No. It will boost ontop of your pc, they'll boost several hundred MHz themselves, you'll be able to add 100-200 ish MHz as an over clock.

Nothing much to be gained by overclocking the 1050ti.. I can't get much more than 100mhz on the core and 50mhz on the memory while maintaining stability with mine.. But it's better to nothing I suppose..

thats rough, my 960 will reach 1500mhz core and my brother's 650 ti overclocks to 300mhz core

its mainly due to gpu boost.. the 1050ti already boosted up to 1700mhz so adding any extra is really pushing a 75w card lol

A10% fps boost with manual OC could be easily obtained over maximum factory OC setting.
