i74790k and gtx 1060 6gb 16 gb of ddr3 good enough for 1080p high/ultra 60 fps?

Hello, i have put together a build on pc part picker that includes an i7 4790k, an evga gtx 1060 6gb, and 16 gb of ddr3 ram 2400 mhz if i am not mistaken.
My question is that having in consideration upcoming games, aproximately how long do you guys think this pc configuration will last me at 1080p high/ultra settings and 60 fps before i would have to upgrade in order to be able to maintain high settings and high fps?
I am considering builds right now and this one would allow me to save quite a bit of money but i need to know if it's worth it. I am also gonna wait for the price of gpus to go down more before i buy one xD.

thanks for your help man, but i think i will go with the 4790k. just can't afford other faster cpus and ddr4 ram. From what i have researched the 4790k seems more than enough for 1080p for now so i will take the gamble.

i built a PC with a 4790k recently (within the last year) kinda the same reason your thinking
i have no regrets intel 8 series wasnt out yet when i did it and 4790k vs 7700k was close enough for me to pull the trigger on my build i paid 230 canadian for my 4790k

not how it works at all. I have been buying pc parts on ebay since 2008 and all you have to do to not get screwed is buy from top rated sellers with tons of positive ratings. Most state if the cpu has been overcked and some even tell you the temperatures it used to run at.
Don't know where some people get the idea that buying used pc parts is bad but it jsut isn't the case. used cpus and gpus are perfectly fine. I would never buy a used psu or a used hard drive but other then that it's fine.

Most miners run their equipment like crazy close to breaking point and then try to get as much money back from this equipment as possible by selling it so they can buy new equipment to ruin.

easily avoidable. If the price seems to good to be true, there is obviously something wrong. If the prices make sense and the seller is top rated or highly rated, chances are you will be fine. even then i just don't see how a cpu would be ran near breaking point just by mining crypto currency as cpus don't have moving parts, unlike gpus. It would possibly even be fine to buy a cpu used for mining but hey i am just speculating at this point and i have already made my decision so yeah... Just wanted to let people who may read your comment know that there is absolutely nothing wrong about buying used pc parts as long as you know what you are doing.

The 4790k is a very good chip, but last I looked they are still valued at £200 second hand, and good z97 boards were another 100 atleast, which, makes it a questionable value if you need to buy it all, but, if you get a good one, it's not far behind a 7700k, as long as you overclock, mine sat between 4.6 and 4.8 non stop happily, it's a great chip, but, that's what causes it to keep its value.

As for the 1060 6GB, if your ok with high not ultra and a few dips, you should be good for a while, depending on the type of game.

Generally speaking, a 4790k with an adequate motherboard is pretty decent and still does very well..

But as has been said, if this is a NEW build, it would probably be best to go for a more up to date system.

What is your budget and cost of current parts?

If it's only around $100 more to go with a 8400 or even a 8600k system, I would go that route personally.

One could argue the other side of the coin and say DDR4 is a bit of a waste for now because DDR5 is slated for 2020.

I don't see too much problem with his DDR3 idea with 2020 DDR5 creeping up pretty quick.

It's good enough. Price of the build (mobo+CPU+RAM) should be the decision maker. I got 4770 (not K) a year ago just for $90 and mobo for $30. It was a good price, so I grab the deal.
Of course newer CPUs are faster, colder and so on, but if old one is good enough and costs as one thirdth as new one... For me it's a bargain deal. I don't have a lot of spare money, so I don't object to buy not newest parts...

True, but the point is that unless the OP doesn't already own a 4970K, there is no realy point in getting any 6 core Intel CPU's. I myself with my 6700K would need to do is upgrade my GPU. Currently though, a lot of games bundled with Ryzen will take adavantage of all the cores availible n Ryzen CPU's

That being said...for now, on a per clock basis of 4 cores 8 threads, and single core clock, the 4970K (Devil's Canyon) is still a beast CPU, and a heck of a lot less eexpendive to keep cool. It is the oldest CPU you can have that does not cause any bottlenecking with TitanXP.

Very true. More and more games are starting to take advantage of more cores.

However, this doesn't mean the 4790K can't play these games with exceptional performance standards.

Just chiming in on the multi-core debate. As far as buying a 4790K today, I believe it should only be done if getting a good deal. If not saving at least $200 overall, then I see no point in buying older hardware.
