The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Regedit changes don't save
I am trying to fix the resolution in TES III: Morrowind using regedit, it used to work but after I reinstalled Morrowind it just resets after launching the game

What changes are you making in the registry?

Why on earth are you doing that? Unless you're on an iGPU, you can use AMD Crimson and NVIDIA Control Panel to creat custom resolutions.

Open services.msc and see if Volume Shadow Copy is enabled. If it is, disable it.

Morrowind doesn't support modern resolutions. He needs to edit registry to get it to run at resolutions that cannot be set from the game options. Nvidia Control Panel and AMD Crimson allow you to create custom resolutions for your desktop but they cannot change the in-game resolution of games.

Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues
Resolutions set in the registry are Vert-. Use Morrowind FPS Optimizer to set your resolution and FOV (uncheck novice mode for FOV options).

Some aspect ratios are not listed. Divide height by width to get the aspect ratio's decimal value, then edit mw_fps_opt.ini and change the value for FOV aspect= to that value.

Some standard FOV values (see FOV calculator):
Default 4:3 - 75
16:9 - 91.3154
15:9 - 87.61661884
16:10 - 85.2813

The resolution setting is stored by the game but the FOV change is only applied when the Morrowind FPS Optimizer is running. If the FOV or aspect ratio is incorrect try exiting and relaunching the Optimizer while Morrowind is running. The FPS Optimizer will not display the special werewolf FOV increase.

The HUD and all two-dimensional elements do not stretch. Floating windows can be resized and positioned. Some windows have maximum dimensions; use Morrowind Code Patch to remove these limits.

Ultra-Widescreen (21:9) Specific Solution & Issues
Same as widescreen. Aspect ratio is not listed. Edit mw_fps_opt.ini and set FOV aspect= accordingly:
2560x1080: FOV aspect=0.421875
3440x1440: FOV aspect=0.4186046511627907

(See widescreen steps for other resolutions)

Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues
Same as widescreen. HUD is at far edges of the screen. Floating windows can be arranged within the resolution as needed.

Some aspect ratios are not listed. Divide height by width to get the aspect ratio's decimal value, then edit mw_fps_opt.ini and change the value for FOV aspect= to that value.

Same thing. I have the game installed through steam. Hold Windows Key and press R. Type "regedit" then press Enter. Then find the key I provided above and change it :) If you have a 64-bit machine, it might be in a Wow6432Node folder or something along those lines.
