How to use the Nvidia GTX 1050 ti instead of Intel HD 640 graphics?
When I first got this PC i noticed lag and difficulty playing games which a 1050ti wouldn't have a problem playing. After further investigation I learnt that I had the Intel HD 640 Graphics, then I got a HDMI cable as I thought it might help fix it however it changed nothing. Since then I've continued to look through forums for help I recently reinstalled both drivers yet that changed nothing. Now I don't know what to do... [Fixed]

you can get HDMI cables from (some) dollar stores, there is no need to buy an expensive one at all! (ignore the people who WILL start arguing with me, and google it yourself) they all produce the same image quality.

HDMI is digital. It either works or it doesn't.

yes, I am aware, thats what i meant with what I said, a 3 dollar cord is just as good as a 40 dollar cord.

What games is it lagging in?
Does your monitor come with a DisplayPort cable and inputs? If so, use that and connect it to your 1050's DisplayPort. It doesn't really matter which one you plug it into on the graphics card. Before you do all that, though, consult your motherboard manual on how to disable the iGPU in BIOS.

Is the hdmi cable plugged into your motherboard or gpu?

Plug the HDMI cable into back of your GTX 1050 Ti, if it's plugged to the motherboard socket then it uses CPU integrated graphics instead.

Do you have the Nvidia drivers installed correctly? Maybe try to reinstall them.

Did you got your GTX 1050 Ti drivers from here:

http://www.geforce.com/drivers

If not then go there and download the latest drivers for it.

Ugh, go to the link I posted, download latest version of GTX 1050 Ti drivers for the Windows version you use and run those drivers.
