No, perhaps u'd like to actually re-read his words. They are crystal clear, you're reading it wrong.

Yeah, my bad.

You never need Win10 Pro either. Use ShutUp10 and you're done... nothing to edit really.
Just toggle an on/off switch, close it, and reboot to apply.

Wow, its so hard.
This too.

would be nice if the settings stuck after updates, but yeah, pretty much.

They can't and it makes no realistic sense for this to be a thing.

Its a new OS every time it's a new version; it's how it is. This is it, Win10 til 2025...
Your Phone/Tablet can run into the same thing when your do an Android OS Update for example too. The reason is mainly because they want to ensure of certain defaults, this might mean some changes YOU made before will be reset in that process. Plus some functions may have changed or evolved. Sometimes even Drivers do the same thing; or add new Features for you to configure.

Why is this news to folks? It's been this way since.... hmm forever.

I don't see it as a new OS though. All but 5 of my settings from ShutUp10 stayed in-place. If it was truly a new OS, none of those settings would carry over. This is on multiple PCs too.

It ihas new features added to the OS. Each edition is a service pack. ShutUp Windows 10 is only as useful as to when it is updated to accomodate for those features, and changes in the old ones.

Most notably, Windows 10's quiet hours mode now has 3 settings in stead of the standrad on and off (It is also now called Focus Assist). Off (Priority), On (Alarm (malware attack), and notifications only. You can also now change what Windows Store and XBoxLive apps have priorty.

Are you using Pro, Home, or Free?

Edit:

The transparency affects are shifted to the menu pane.

It is. I usually have my "Default App Color" set to dark so it is easier to read at a distance for me. The trransparency is more heavy by the menu pane though.

For the record

When i updated it had the same NVIDIA driver that i used before i updated

And i deleted the Windows backup afterwords, so Windows.old having whatever within it was not an issue.

so im not buying that part, especially considering i have hardware driver updates disabled.

Keep getting a slient crash report saying "edge content process has stopped working". been happening since the build update to 1803. The thing is constanly causing ccleaner to lockup as well as it can't clean it due to a hanging process. This is despite the thing never even being used. Anyone know how/if you can remove edge completely?

The issue is CCleaner. You're going to need to completely uninstall it using the programs and features uninstall, and then restart your PC.

WindowsExplorer is part of Edge in Windows 10. CCleaner isn't up to date with 1803 and you probably shouldn't use it in the first place because it messes up your system if you run the registry cleaning feature.

don't use the reg cleaner. and nothing built into windows allows you to clean temp files as thoroughly.

these errors are being logged anyway. the ccleaner hang is a seperate issue. it logged the error 3 times yesterday during my clean reinstall of windows. its definitely related to the 1803 build.
