perhaps you need to register it at zotac company before you get your full 5 years.
most resellers for silverstone psu in my country the philippines offer only 1 year warranty (in store) for this psu but will tell you that the distributor will honor up to three years if you send the defective psu to them.
how to register? can i register in the us site even though i buy in japan?
So, registering a product after purchase (in the US) gives a 3 year warranty.
For Japan, it appears only a 12 month coverage is allowed from date of coverage. You can read the Zotac warranty info for Japan here[www.zotac.com].
My personal opinion, a 3-5 year warranty is a good range. Most people will have upgraded their GPU within that time frame. I'm coming up (or may have just passed) the 3 year warranty period on one of my Zotac 980 Ti cards. The second one I have still has about 6 months. I have good luck with past cards from multiple companies. For example - the now defunct BFG Technologies - I still have two cards (GTX 280 and GTX 285) that are fully functional. I also have a Zotac GTX 570 that has seen a solid 7+ years of use that is still working.
Hopefully, if you take care of your GPU - keep it clean and don't use it for mining - and from just normal use it should last you a long time.
