What are considered safe temps for a GPU?
My MSI R9 390 is hitting 95 degrees when it is under load, I'm not necessarily comftorable with this.

I've got two 120mm intake fans in the front and one 120mm exhaust at the back, I'm planning on getting more soon but everything is out of stock everywhere.

2/3 fans are the stock fans that came with my P400s.

I know that the R9 290/290X had, essentially, a temperature target of 95C. The 390 is just a revised/rebadged 290, so the operating temperature should be the same.

95c is too hot. It's throttling at those temps. These high-end R9 cards should be running below 85c.

Clean your PC if you haven't in a while. Blow the dust out with an air compressor or a can of air.

Your case doesn't have the best airflow but I don't think that is the issue.

This is a newly assembled PC, it has no dust in it whatsoever :/

Then I would reaply thermal paste to the GPU.

But first see if the temps improve without the side panel on. Just to see if it's an airflow issue or not.

before i'd go to that extreme id go mess with the fan profile and bump the fan speed up. should help matters i suspect its in quiet mode or some bs.

I've already adjusted my fan profile, although removing the temper glass side panel has pleasntly suprised me.
My idle temps were 31c although that's irrelevent, onto the juicy stuff, I ran Unigine Heaven and hit a maximum temp of 72c. Hovering between 69c to 71c 90% of the time.

Both tests I ran lasted for 15 minutes.

Be aware doing that you are going to be sucking in tons of dust how many fans do you have? Where are they placed?
Skull Apr 7, 2018 @ 6:45pm
2 intakes at the front, 1 exhaust in the rear.

Does your case have a space for top fans? Taking the door off pretty much says the case isnt get the heat up and out id put 2 fans up top and if you can one at the bottom to help push it up

That's what I'm planning on. If I'm correct they should be AF fans right? I'm not great wth fan types.
Malygos Apr 7, 2018 @ 7:26pm
Yes since they will just be pushing yhe heat up and out

I would also check the fans were the right way around especially the front ones, and not running backwards.
Skull Apr 7, 2018 @ 7:42pm
The fans are indeed pulling air into the case.

I think you just need more airflow heat rises and if theres not enough moving the heat out its being recirculated which is why taking the door off dropped temps so much

Currently I can only fit 2 fans at the front of the case, I would like to add 2 exhaust fans to the top but wouldn't that create negative pressure? (One rear exhaust, two top exhausts and two front intakes)
