Recommended PSU for GTX 1070/i7 4790k (prefereably under a hundred)?
I'm liking the prices of the bronze EVGA 600-700watt models but I don't guess that means they're good necessarily. Anyways, what's good out there? I currently have an old off brand 750watt that I've had for like 7 years not knowing what was best when I bought it.

Technically you would only need 550W for this setup but price difference is small and 750W has you covered for any changes you might do for long time.

Well I would probably get a 650watt and I don't plan on upgrading my cpu/gpu for quite a while yet and to be honest there's not much more wattage to be had in the parts that I could even upgrade to. At least for what I use my PC for (video games only pretty much). The best I could do right now is a gtx 1080ti and a maybe an i7 7700k and even then I would only need a 600watt PSU

Go with the 750watt PSU. More room.

What up Spoopy Kitteh! What do you think about this EVGA model? https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Modular-Warranty-Supply-210-GQ-0750-V1/dp/B017HA3RGE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520228869&sr=1-1&keywords=750+watt+power+supply

Howdy Evil Ginger!

Honestly, I read the 1 star reviews on that one...and none of the issues seemed like the problem was between the chair and keyboard.

I own this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_1_10?k=antec+edge+750&sprefix=Antec+Edge&crid=1PO7G6J8S2VKT

Been quite reliable and lots of head room.

For EVGA go Supernova G3 line. Otherwise your entire PC will not even draw 400W. So you would be fine with a SeaSonic M12II or S12II 520 or 620W what ever would be cheaper. Build quality is really good. Neither wattage nor power efficiency rating tell anything about quality.

GQ is on the older side, I'd go with a G2 or G3, main difference is size, though on the evga forums people seem to have more issues with G3 models than the older G2, personally I have 3 G2's, I'd bump up to gold rating, and as others have said, 500-650 will be plenty to sit in the efficiency curve, going higher is just money for nothing g which could be spent on a better PSU.

I pulled the trigger on the 750watt GQ 80+ Gold. Honestly anything is better than what I have by a long shot, trust me... ULTRA LSP750; ever heard of that brand? Me neither, 7 years ago lol same with my memory (7 year old 2x 4gb adata ddr3 1333mhz sticks). Just ordered a couple 8gb Corsair Vengance Pro ddr3 2400mhz sticks as well. Hopefully all of this fixes my stuttering issues
Over 80% efficiency recommend

on load my 7700k + 1070 setup uses just under 300 watts plus a few harddrives. so to be honest a quality 500-600 or so watt gold psu will power it fine. although if you wanted to sli in the future maybe add another 100 watts to that.

Malygos Mar 5, 2018 @ 2:10pm
