Geforce experience freezes computer?

I have a problem with the video recording of Nvidia Geforce Experience's in-game overlay. I was going to record some gameplay of Assassin's Creed III but as soon as I started recording, the game froze. I could still hear the music playing in the background but the picture was totally frozen. Then it locked up my entire computer. I couldn't use ctrl-alt-del. I couldn't do anything. I had to hard reboot the computer. The recording started to work just fine after rebooting.

Most of the time it works without issues but I've had this happen to me two times. On both times it locked up my entire pc and somehow the in-game music still kept playing in the background. I have no idea if this is a problem in Geforce Experience itself or in Assassin's Creed III.
